14:40 Wexford – Clearwater Construction Handicap Hurdle (Division II)2m1f55y | 4yo+ | 0–100 | €6,000 | Ground: Good | Pace Forecast: Weak

·

Pace & Tactical Setup

Forecast Pace: Weak — likely to benefit those ridden prominently or with a turn of foot.

Draw Not Applicable (jumps race).

Tactical Edge: Prominent racers such as Aussie Warrior and Trooper Carton may be favoured. Hold-up types like Spanish John could be compromised unless a stronger-than-expected pace materialises.

Leading Contenders

AUSSIE WARRIOR (TFR 115) – Travelled strongly and landed a gamble over fences at Tramore last time. Returns to hurdles off a fair mark (OR 98), and although more stamina-laden than ideal for this test, the switch to positive tactics is significant. Track and ground are fine.

HATFIELD HAMMER (TFR 107) – Won C&D event on return from six months off. That win came in a similar race (0–100) and he travelled well. Not obviously ahead of his mark but effective under these conditions and could go well again.

MENAS MIRACLE (TFR 111) – Big improvement on handicap debut (2nd at Tramore, 21.7f). Drop in trip a question, but likely unexposed and should be running on late.

Dangers & Outsiders

BALLYCOMMON CHAPEL (TFR 110) – Brought down last time when supported in market; had previously been a good 2nd behind Gimme A Buzz at Tipperary. Still looks capable of better.

ONEBRIGHTBLUEROSE (TFR 104) – C&D winner two starts ago and ran well at Clonmel latest. Trip and ground ideal, but 3lb rise may anchor.

GOOD BYE MILAN (TFR 108) – 8yo, but went close at Tipperary in May and is a former C&D winner. Solid but more exposed than the younger improvers.

PLEASUREOFPRESSURE (TFR 103) – Ran well behind Onebrightbluerose on handicap debut. Open to improvement but still some catching up to do on ratings.

Hold-Up Risk

SPANISH JOHN – Late closer who could be suited by a strong gallop but pace projection works against him. Watch market: decent recent Flat run and lightly raced over hurdles.

MENAS MIRACLE – Another likely hold-up type; needs things to fall right in slowly-run race.

Trainer Trends

Paul Nolan has a profitable record with hurdle favourites — Hatfield Hammer could be one for the multiples.

Henry de Bromhead has a 21% strike rate at Wexford – Katakana showed more over fences and may come on for her recent spin.

Watch P. Kiely’s only runner on the card — Ladybela — but she lacks recent form or promise.

Summary

This is a modest 0–100 handicap with many exposed types. A weak pace is forecast, meaning tactical positioning will be key. Aussie Warrior arrives in form, races prominently, and could take advantage of this setup. Menas Miracle and Ballycommon Chapel represent the unexposed improvers and should be monitored closely. Hatfield Hammer has a solid profile but faces stronger competition than on last start.

Smart Play

Win Bet – Aussie Warrior – tactically favoured, strong latest win, versatile over both codes.

Each-Way Saver – Ballycommon Chapel – consistent, improving, unlucky latest.
