Draw Bias: Neutral over this trip at Haydock | Pace Hint: Steady early fractions may suit KINGMAKER, not ideal for KENTUCKY RIVER.

Contenders Overview
1. KINGMAKER (Andrew Balding) – 89p
Proven at the trip and ground, progressive and shaping well in handicaps. Runner-up in a strong Newbury race (Circus of Rome now rated 84), likely to stay further. Prominent racer, ideal in a weak pace scenario.
2. IS I RIGHT (James Horton) – 86
CD winner in May and caught the eye last time at Newmarket when denied a run. Still unexposed over staying trips and acts well on this going. Can bounce back if granted a clear path.
3. MDAWI (Charlie Johnston) – 86p
Lightly raced and returned from break with victory over 11f on AW. Has scope for further improvement on turf but returning from 181-day layoff, market check crucial. Half-brother to multiple useful winners.
4. KENTUCKY RIVER (Ollie Sangster) – 88
Travelled well at Sandown last time but didn’t find a great deal off the bridle. Should be competitive at this level but style may not suit a steadily run race.
5. KUREDU KING (Gosdens) – 83
Expensive purchase but no better than fair so far. Weak finish at Haydock latest, cheekpieces retained. Needs to step up but stable in good form.
6. PERCY’S DAYDREAM (David O’Meara) – 81
Won minor event at Lingfield, then third at Ripon when shaping one-paced. May not be progressing and needs to improve to get involved.
7. WEST TYRONE (Kevin Ryan) – 84
Front runner, but often fades late and can trade short without delivering. Not sure to stay 1m4f well in strongly run conditions. Drawn wide and may have to work early.

Race Summary
A small-field staying handicap where the anticipated steady pace will likely suit KINGMAKER and IS I RIGHT most. KINGMAKER continues to improve and has solid form credentials. IS I RIGHT had excuses latest and can bounce back. MDAWI is a wildcard on return for a stable in form—check the market. WEST TYRONE may struggle to dominate and fade late again, while KUREDU KING and PERCY’S DAYDREAM need clear progress.
