17:00 Carlisle – Caledonia Park ‘Sarah’s Journey’ Handicap (Pro-Am Female Jockeys) (Class 5, 0-70, 5f182y, Soft)

·

Pace & Draw:
The pace is forecast to be weak, likely suiting those who race handily or can track the pace closely. Horses like SUPERIOR COUNCIL and SACRED FALLS, who often race off the pace, may struggle unless they get a strong tow into the race. No significant draw bias is reported here, though early position will be key on slower ground.

Contenders & Race View:

SHOWTIME MAHOMES (102 TFR): Still working back to peak, shaped nicely last time and is now back on a good mark. Proven on turf and all-weather, with form suggesting more to come now fitter. Hold-up style, so luck in running on soft is a concern.

PARISIAC (97 TFR): Resurgent for Iain Jardine with a win and two close placings in last four. Handles ground, stays well, and is usually prominent – a major asset here given the pace setup.

SACRED FALLS (99 TFR): C&D winner in spring, often late-running and inconsistent, but has a strong finish when on song. If things fall right with pace collapse, he’s a big player, though is risky from behind.

SUPERIOR COUNCIL (97 TFR): In form with a win and close second last twice. Stays further, but a sluggish tempo might not help. Interesting if able to stay in touch and unleash stamina late.

PROFITEER (97 TFR): Consistent and well-backed last two, may find it hard to impose from mid-pack but gets weight and has class edge for a 64-rated type.

Dangers & Outsiders:

DAZY MAZY: Likely needed return, soft ground should suit, was a dual 2024 turf winner and could go well at a price.

TICKTYBOO: Recent form poor but was highly progressive in 2024. Market check advised – trainer Tinkler has been firing recently.

SIRIUS WHITE & SIR MAXI: Capable but off colour last time. Both need to bounce back but are better than bare form.

RAMON DI LORIA: Has class and loves Carlisle. Trainer red hot, but recent efforts underwhelming.

DEPUTY: Has shown signs of spark in the past; Dods does well with limited runners, but overall form shaky.

Promising: Profiteer (still lightly raced)

Private Tissue Estimate:

Showtime Mahomes – 4/1

Parisiac – 5/1

Superior Council – 6/1

Sacred Falls – 13/2

Profiteer – 7/1

Summary:
This looks an open sprint with fitness and tactics playing a key role. The soft ground and slow pace put emphasis on positioning. Showtime Mahomes is weighted to strike and hinted at a return to form. Parisiac is very solid and should get the run of the race. Superior Council is thriving but may find this lacks the stamina test he needs. Watch the betting for Tinkler’s Ticktyboo – a return to form would make him dangerous.

Smart Play:
Win bet: SHOWTIME MAHOMES – ready to peak, well-handicapped
Each-way saver: PARISIAC – rock-solid, pace-suited, reliable
