17:20 Newmarket (July) – Federation of Bloodstock Agents Handicap (Class 3, 1m, 3yo+, £15,462)Going: Good to Firm (Good in places)

·

PACE & DRAW ANGLES:

A strong gallop is expected over this mile trip, potentially favouring closers if leaders overdo it.

Mid draws are preferred at this track/distance.

BOYFRIEND and PAROLE D’ORO are best suited tactically, with WHERE’S FREDDY and COGITATE needing to settle from wider or hold-up positions.

STRONGEST CONTENDERS:

PAROLE D’ORO (101p): Unlucky in the Britannia, trapped at a crucial point. Remains a potential pattern-class performer off 92. Lightly raced, well drawn, and improving.

BOYFRIEND (100): Tough and consistent, not flashy but keeps finding. Proven stamina, handy style will be suited by pace here.

WHERE’S FREDDY (99): 3-3 at Newmarket, thrives off a strong tempo. Hold-up type, but has shown he can overcome pace angles when on song.

COGITATE (99): Still lightly raced, did well to finish fifth after a hampered start in the same race as Great Acclaim. Buick is a positive booking.

GREAT ACCLAIM (99): Rebounded to form last time, ideally placed. Reliable at this trip and venue but 0-5 off marks above 90.

INTERESTING OUTSIDERS:

GOD OF WAR (99): Underperformed in the Britannia, but promising second at Chester before that and may bounce back under calmer conditions.

SEAGOLAZO (100): Scopey type, was badly outclassed at Ascot. On better ground and with blinkers retained, could surprise at a price.

DUTCH DECOY (98): Hot-and-cold but returns to a venue he enjoys and trainer is in form. Has tactical speed and could nick a place if things fall his way.

SUMMARY:

A highly competitive 0–95 contest where pace should be strong and mid-drawn, tactical runners are favoured. Parole D’Oro has the profile of a Group-class improver in a handicap, and his unlucky Britannia eighth reads strongly. Boyfriend is another upwardly mobile 4yo who wins by small margins but does little wrong. Where’s Freddy is unbeaten at Newmarket and is always dangerous with a strong pace to chase.

SMART PLAY:

Win Bet – PAROLE D’ORO (unlucky at Ascot, remains well treated, looks to have more in the locker)

Each-Way Saver – WHERE’S FREDDY (track record, suited by pace, stays on strongly)
