14:12 Newmarket (July), Saturday 12 July 2025 – TrustATrader 20th Anniversary Fillies’ Handicap (Class 2, 7f, £25,770, 0-100, 3yo+)

·

Pace & Draw Angles:
The pace projection is weak, and there is a draw bias favouring low numbers, which should play into the hands of those drawn in stalls 1–4. Expect a tactical race, where horses with positional speed or finishing class are advantaged.

Strongest Contenders:

MISS NIGHTFALL (109) – Strongly run-on in the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot when hampered early. Only beaten just over 3 lengths and was a big eye-catcher. Drawn low in 3, should be ideally placed and is the one to beat on form.

MISS INFORMATION (105) – Classy handicapper, won the Kensington Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in style from off the pace. Carries top weight but brings winning form and has thrived this summer. Balding’s yard flying.

ROYAL VELVET (105) – Proven at this track and ran a solid third over C&D behind Cracking Gold. Light weight, handy draw (1), and versatile tactics make her dangerous in a slowly run affair.

Main Dangers:

RANEENN (107) – Flopped at York but had a valid excuse (return from break, pace bias). Has won at Doncaster in style and is well drawn. May try to control the tempo. Haggas yard going well.

BOUNTIFUL (99) – Ran better than it looks at Royal Ascot from an unfavourable position. May attempt to lead here and her prominent racing style is well suited to the likely tactical scenario.

HAVANA PUSEY (105) – Honest type and returned to form with a strong 4th in a Group 3 on AW. Can go well if race falls apart but she’s drawn wide and may find traffic in a stop-start contest.

Interesting Outsider:

SAARISELKA (104) – Capable at her best, but her effort at Royal Ascot was lacklustre. Handles the trip and ground but needs to bounce back. Market may guide.

MAW LAM (95) – Speedy, but unproven at 7f and a weak finisher at times. Could struggle if the leaders set a slow pace and sprint late.

Miss Nightfall – 5/2

Miss Information – 7/2

Royal Velvet – 6/1

Havana Pusey – 12/1

Saariselka – 14/1

Summary:

Classy fillies’ handicap with strong Royal Ascot form in the spotlight. Miss Nightfall was a major eye-catcher and is ideally drawn to deliver her late run with pace to track. Miss Information comes in off a Royal Ascot win and has a touch of class but concedes weight all round. Royal Velvet remains on a fair mark and should not be overlooked under Buick.

Smart Play:

Win Bet: Miss Nightfall – Unlucky at Ascot, drawn low, strong finish expected.
Each-Way Saver: Royal Velvet – C&D suited, well drawn, and consistent type with value.

Expect a tactical affair where draw and track position will be vital—low drawn, proven finishers are strongly favoured.
