16:20 Ascot – Knight Frank Residential Investment Handicap (Class 4), 1m2f, 3yo+, Good (Good to Firm in places), 11 runners

·

Pace & Draw Angles:

An even pace is expected, but traditionally Ascot’s 10f races favour high draws and strong finishers. That could favour LONDONER, who is drawn in 10 and travels strongly. By contrast, PEARL EYE is often held up but may not get a strong-enough gallop to suit.

Strongest Contenders:

NOTIMEFORCHITCHAT – Has improved markedly in blinkers and won in style at Kempton over 1m. Proven stamina, now rated 84 and still potentially well handicapped. (TFR 90)

LONDONER – In good form since joining the Kublers and ran well behind a smart one last time. Well drawn, has tactical speed, and stable in red-hot form. (TFR 94)

RIDE THE THUNDER – Lightly raced, progressive, and gets a handy mark for this handicap debut. Ran to a good standard in defeat last year and scored nicely at Nottingham last month. Trainer excels with this type. (TFR 90)

Main Dangers & Outsiders:

MEBLESH – Has won 2 of last 4 starts but yet to fully prove he wants 10f at this level. Lingfield win lacked depth, but progressive profile nonetheless. (TFR 88)

TRIBAL WISDOM – Well-handicapped, good recent second, but needs to be delivered late, which can be tricky here unless they go quick. (TFR 92)

RUN WITH IT – Gelded and now in blinkers, could be sharper. Sandown return wasn’t devoid of promise. (TFR 89)

ADVANCING – Could improve now handicapping off a break. Yard in good nick, but was a bit disappointing at Newcastle. (TFR 85+)

Suitability Ratings out of 10 (track/trip/going/pace/class/form):

LONDONER – 9.5/10 – In form, drawn well, tactically suited.

RIDE THE THUNDER – 9/10 – Unexposed and Varian excels with this type.

NOTIMEFORCHITCHAT – 8.5/10 – Improving, needs to prove turf form at this level.

TRIBAL WISDOM – 8/10 – Needs luck but capable of a late burst.

MEBLESH – 7.5/10 – Progressing, stamina still unproven.

PEARL EYE – 6.5/10 – Often slow to start and reliant on pace collapse.

ADVANCING – 6.5/10 – Freshened up, potential dark horse.

Private Tissue Estimate:

Londoner 7/2

Ride The Thunder 4/1

Notimeforchitchat 9/2

Tribal Wisdom 7/1

Meblesh 8/1

Run With It 10/1

Advancing 12/1

Others 20/1+

Summary:

Plenty of unexposed and in-form horses line up in a competitive 0-85 handicap. The shape of the race looks to favour those drawn high with tactical speed or late closers. LONDONER is peaking and better than the bare result last time. RIDE THE THUNDER is an unexposed handicap debutant from a yard that often improves them dramatically in this scenario.

Smart Play:

Win Bet: LONDONER – Well drawn, tactically versatile, proven over trip, stable in form.

Each-Way Saver: RIDE THE THUNDER – Unexposed and open to lots of improvement on just his second start of the season.
