Pace Projection: Even
Pace Angle: Prominent racers tend to be favoured in this scenario at Kilbeggan even when the pace is honest. MINORITY INTEREST is best suited to this, whereas REAL EMPIRE, a hold-up horse, could find himself needing luck.
Draw: Not relevant in jumps racing.

Contenders Overview
MINORITY INTEREST (114) – Promising type off a long layoff. Returned a huge price when second here over a similar trip last July on handicap debut, recording a notably strong in-running performance (traded 25% or lower IR). Still very lightly raced and could be ahead of his mark despite 350-day absence. Suited by trip, track, pace. Fitness the question – market check essential.
MY GOOD PAL (107) – Proven, consistent but limited upside. Best recent form includes two respectable efforts at Wexford and Kilbeggan (beaten <5L both times). Runs frequently, stays well, and the stable is capable. One-paced but genuine. Should be in the frame.
LATE VOCATION (108+) – Temperamental but capable. Showed some ability under previous connections, now with a new yard and off a 260-day layoff. Looked well treated when fancied at Clonmel on final 2024 start but flopped. Could go well fresh but only modest at best.
FREDDIE ROBDAL (111) – Proven chaser reverting to hurdles. Dual chase winner last term, fair fifth here in June and returns to smaller obstacles. Often held up and risky profile in hurdles, but not dismissed for minor honours.
BEARAMI CREEK (102p) – Lightly raced and open to improvement. Yet to deliver on early promise in maiden hurdles but represents a capable yard and makes handicap debut here. Should stay the trip. Trainer form moderate but capable of springing surprises in this grade.

Others of Interest
CHANCER DANCER (109?) – Inconsistent but capable on his day. Long break and patchy form last term, though placed at Perth. Another returning from an absence. Bit free-going. Needs things to drop right.
BESTALINE (100) – Out of form but unexposed under this yard. Was rated 100 by Timeform after early promise for Gordon Elliott, though form tailed off since. Has changed yards again. Won a point in May so retains some ability.
—
Hold-up Risk / Needs Luck
REAL EMPIRE (110) – Cold yard, and a noted hold-up horse in a race likely favouring pace pressers. Form from earlier in 2025 has not worked out.
FREDDIE ROBDAL – Often dropped in; could struggle for position.

Trainer Notes / Trends
P. J. Rothwell trained last year’s Division I winner; returns with MINORITY INTEREST who has a very similar profile.
S. Curling’s only runner on the card is SALLAP, though exposed and unlikely to be good enough.

Summary
This is a wide-open low-grade handicap where a couple of lightly raced and returning types (notably MINORITY INTEREST) offer more upside than many exposed rivals. Those who have been consistently knocking on the door (like MY GOOD PAL) must also be considered. Conditions favour front-runners or prominent racers, which brings tactical profiling into focus.
