19:15 CORK – FOLLOW US ON TWITTER MAIDEN HURDLE – 3m – €7,200 – 4yo+ – Good ground – 21 runners declared

·

Pace Insight:
A well-balanced field with an even pace forecast over 3m suggests no natural front-runner will dictate. This suits adaptable types. EMPIRE SUCCES often races prominently and remains effective whether setting the tempo or tracking. REIKI REVOLUTION finishes strongly and the step up in trip looks well timed.

Leading Contenders

REIKI REVOLUTION (8.5/10) – Progressive type. Won a bumper at Galway and shaped with abundant promise in both hurdle starts. Notably strong finishing effort at Listowel over 20.4f hints this 3m test will suit ideally. Carries the “p” symbol for further progress and represents a trainer who knows how to ready a stayer. Holds standout form credentials.

EMPIRE SUCCES (8/10) – Consistent and proven stayer. First past the post once (later disqualified), and placed in two recent maiden hurdles over this trip or further. Front-runner style may be effective if allowed to dictate, though his ceiling may be a touch lower than Reiki Revolution’s. Solid, reliable, and sure to be in the frame.

TIMES A WASTIN (7/10) – Interesting outsider. Fair bumper form and improved back over hurdles last time when fourth in a Kilbeggan maiden (3m). Was held up that day and made ground smoothly – one to monitor with cheekpieces retained. Could outrun odds again with better race positioning.

Other Notables / Outsiders to Monitor

COUP D’ETAT (6/10) – Some solid bumper form and signs of ability in maiden hurdles but recent bleeding episode a concern. Risky on balance.

PLOMEUR (5/10) – Represents a strong yard and may improve sharply on rules debut. Market check essential.

PAUDIE’S WINGS (5/10) – Shows some stamina but form too limited to consider without market confidence.

COILLTE M C G (3/10) – 403 days off and offered nothing of note. Big layoff tempers any enthusiasm.

KADYS DIRHA (4/10) – Better known for chasing; moderate in both codes. Looks exposed.

Trends & Trainer Notes

Empire Succes was disqualified after a win last season due to a banned substance; since then has run well in maidens.

Trainer P.J. Rothwell (Reiki Revolution) has placed stayers from this profile in similar Cork contests before.

John Joseph Hanlon remains cold, which dampens enthusiasm for several of his longer-priced entries.

Summary

Reiki Revolution brings strong bumper form and has shaped very well in maiden hurdles, particularly when doing best of the closers at Listowel. Stepping up to 3m is a natural progression. Empire Succes has consistency and racecraft on his side and should give his running again. Times A Wastin is the dark horse – may pick up pieces late if the market speaks positively.

Smart Play

Win Bet – REIKI REVOLUTION (progressive, suited by trip, holds strongest recent form).

Each Way Saver – TIMES A WASTIN (unexposed, solid late work last time, cheekpieces retained).
