Pace: Even
Draw: N/A for hurdles – but track position counts
Pace Bias: Hold-up horses generally disadvantaged at this trip here
—
Strongest Contenders & Tactical Angles:
RADAR AHEAD (TFR 120+) – Promising
Handicap debutant with untapped upside. Improved markedly when runner-up at Ballinrobe in a maiden (beaten 10L) and ran a sound third on the Flat since.
Free-going type, but a positive draw here with even pace forecast. Gets 4-y-o allowance.
Given her upward form curve, 10-10 weight, and profile as a filly open to more, she stands out tactically.
SPICK AND SPAN (122) – Progressive
Only just denied on reappearance (¾L second at this course) after an 8-month break and a yard switch.
Well-handled by Kevin Sexton and clearly suited by track.
Will race forward or handy, which suits the tactical setup. Might not be loads in hand off 102, but very solid contender.
DAME RAPIDE (127) – Proven
Versatile mare with credible hurdles/chase/FW form. Placed off similar marks recently.
Free-goer who’s better placed than most here.
Just 9 days after an underwhelming Flat run, but a return to timber, where she’s consistent, boosts appeal.
—
Main Dangers:
FIVER FRIDAY (119) – Promising
Still unexposed over hurdles (just 5 starts), and a Naas maiden winner in March.
Flat form suggests fitness is no issue, but folded tamely last time at Punchestown and has to prove herself in a truer-run handicap.
Trainer form patchy; market will guide.
FLIDAIS (123) – Proven
Versatile trip mare, effective over 2m–3m. Has run poorly the last twice but earlier efforts solid and she’s capable in these conditions.
Best form from a mark of 102 puts her in this on a going day, but a risky type.
—
Interesting Outsiders:
FORTUNATE LIGHTING (118) – Unproven but interesting
Back from a break when mid-pack at Limerick. Needed the run but shaped with mild promise. Now with Thomas Coyle.
Market should guide – signs of former potential, but only modest evidence under rules so far.
BURVEA (124) – Proven
Below form when last seen, but third over further prior to that was decent. Best form at slightly longer trips, and usually held up – which is a tactical negative here.
Did win off similar marks, so not discounted for place money if things fall right.
—
Others:
TEAGARDEN JAZZ (117+): Modest profile and long absence. Better at longer trips and likely needs this.
SHE IS ELECTRIC (???): 10yo mare off long absence and poorly placed tactically. Looks regressive and hard to fancy.
—
Runner Ratings & Suitability:
Radar Ahead: 8.5/10 – Well-in, good setup, progressive, 4-y-o weight advantage.
Spick And Span: 8/10 – In-form, tactically suited, trainer switch positive.
Dame Rapide: 7.5/10 – Consistent, forward-runner, fit, proven at this track/trip.
Fiver Friday: 6.5/10 – Could bounce back, but risky.
Flidais: 6/10 – Capable, but unreliable.
Burvea: 5.5/10 – Trip and pace setup not ideal.
Fortunate Lighting: 5.5/10 – Watching brief, potential hidden.
Teagarden Jazz: 3/10 – Layoff + profile not encouraging.
She Is Electric: 2/10 – Regressive and unplaced type.
Keep an eye on the market for support or big drifts for runners returning from layoffs of 90+ days.
Watch out for in-form hurdlers returning quickly; they can be hot.
—
Each-Way Angles (9 Runners):
FLIDAIS at double-figure odds has place potential if bouncing back.
BURVEA may sneak into the frame late if a collapse unfolds up front, though the pace map isn’t ideal.
—
Private Tissue (Value Estimate):
Horse Tissue Odds
Radar Ahead 3/1
Spick And Span 4/1
Dame Rapide 6/1
Fiver Friday 13/2
Flidais 10/1
Fortunate Lighting 12/1
Burvea 14/1
Teagarden Jazz 25/1
She Is Electric 66/1
Market watch advised for runners making their 2nd start (Radar Ahead, Fortunate Lighting).

Summary + Smart Play:
This is a modest but open mares handicap, where tactical speed and proven hurdling ability should count for plenty on this turning track. Radar Ahead is the most appealing profile – progressive, tactically suited, and getting weight as a 4-y-o. Spick And Span looks the most reliable yardstick and has course form. Dame Rapide remains solid and may go close if not too lit up.
—
Smart Play:
Win Bet: Radar Ahead – scope to progress, tactically well-placed, well-handicapped 4-y-o.
Each-Way Saver: Spick And Span – rock-solid return, course-suited, expected to run well again.
15:00 Sligo – Racing TV Irish EBF Mares Handicap Hurdle (4yo+, 2m1f90y, €12,000) – Good Ground
