16:05 SOUTHWELL – HIGHBET SPORTS DAILY ODDS BOOSTS HANDICAP (0-90, Class 3, 3yo, 1m 13y, Tapeta)

·

Pace & Draw Angles: A strong early pace is expected which usually benefits prominent racers here. The draw bias favours lower numbers, and on Southwell’s Tapeta surface, hold-up horses tend to struggle unless the gallop collapses. TREMOLO may not benefit despite the pace forecast, while IMMEDIATE EFFECT is tactically better placed.

Leading Contenders:

IMMEDIATE EFFECT [104p] – Progressive and improving with each run, has won twice on Tapeta including over C&D, races prominently which suits the setup, from an in-form Sir Mark Prescott yard (24% mid-season SR). Drawn ideally in stall 8, he’s well positioned.

TREMOLO [105+] – Also on the upgrade and returns to 1m with potential for more improvement. Winner last time from off the pace at Kempton in a race that’s working out well. However, his hold-up style may be a tactical drawback given Southwell’s pace/draw bias.

HOT CASH [102] – Solid, versatile and proven, handles Tapeta, acts on testing turf, stays further. Usually races prominently which fits here. Recent form strong and wins have come in bigger fields, so field size no issue.

IMPARTIALITY [104] – Been busy but thriving, won three of last five starts and wasn’t seen to best effect last time. Drawn well, but often held up – needs luck.

DIXIELAND BLUES [102] – Disappointed last time but returns to his winning track and distance. Has early pace, races prominently, and should bounce back now gelded.

TRANSPARENT [103] – Consistent, goes well on Tapeta, and drawn well in stall 4. Slightly lacking tactical speed but hard to dismiss from a place perspective.

Outsiders to Note:

STATEIRA (FR) [101] – Well-bred filly with scope to progress now up in trip again. C&D winner, goes well fresh, and from a hot yard. Needs a pace collapse, though.

LOCH LEVEN (IRE) [101] – Shaped well on return behind Immediate Effect and should strip fitter. Likely to race prominently, which suits here.

TILTED KILT (FR) [102] – Ignore last run (shaped as if amiss), has shown solid form and might appreciate return to AW. Market support could be significant.
