16:40 SOUTHWELL – HIGHBET WEEKLY RACING REWARDS CLUB FILLIES’ HANDICAP (Class 3, 0-95, 1m3f23y, Standard, 3yo+)

·

Pace & Draw Angles: No draw bias at this trip on the Tapeta. The pace is forecast to be even, but with a cluster of front-runners or close trackers (Tralee Girl, Lady Chartwell, Miss Dolly Rocker), expect a solid gallop. Hold-up types like WISPER may face a tactical disadvantage unless there’s a pace collapse.

Leading Contenders:

MISS DOLLY ROCKER [99] – Well-backed and won narrowly at Goodwood in a race that worked out well. Usually races close up and is well drawn. However, she has a habit of trading short in running before fading, especially on synthetic surfaces. Must prove she can reproduce turf form here.

LIKEALOT [94p] – Lightly raced and open to improvement now stepping up in trip. Close behind Bowerchalke last time, has a good action for Tapeta, and is well regarded. Yard in form, and she’s progressive.

KITTY FURNIVAL [95] – Strong polytrack form and ran well in a big-field Kempton handicap last time. Very solid and rarely runs a bad race. Trainer does well with middle-distance handicappers.

WISPER (IRE) [96] – Back to winning ways at Windsor, but she’s a habitual slow starter and often needs things to fall her way. This synthetic surface might not be her optimum, and the pace setup may catch her out.

TRALEE GIRL (IRE) [96] – Rapid improver this season with three wins and a solid second last time. Front runner who handles Tapeta, and this step up could suit. Well drawn in 1, likely to be on the front end again.

Interesting Outsiders:

QUEBELLA [93p] – Improving 3yo who wasn’t disgraced in a listed race last time. Will stay further and has the profile of one that can step forward with this new trip. Strong each-way credentials.

LADY CHARTWELL [96] – Another prominent racer with Tapeta form. Form is solid and she’s reliable, but looks to lack the progressive edge of the top few.

WARDA JAMILA [97] – Looked smart in patches last year, but needs to bounce back from recent runs. Trainer in top form and has place claims if returning to best.

Trends & Insights:

3yos have done well in mixed-age handicaps in summer over middle distances.

Michael Bell (Tralee Girl) is adept with improving handicappers, while Daniel & Claire Kubler are red-hot (Miss Dolly Rocker).

Charlie Johnston (Lady Chartwell) also thrives in this grade, though his filly may be vulnerable late.

Private Tissue Estimate:

Horse Odds

Likealot 9/2
Tralee Girl 5/1
Miss Dolly Rocker 6/1
Kitty Furnival 13/2
Quebella 8/1
Wisper 9/1
Lady Chartwell 10/1
Warda Jamila 14/1
Others 20/1+

Summary:

This is a high-quality fillies’ handicap with several upwardly mobile contenders. LIKEALOT is the progressive type stepping up in trip who ticks all the boxes. TRALEE GIRL and MISS DOLLY ROCKER are also thriving but need to prove they can deliver on the Tapeta. The race looks set for a strong pace, favouring those stalking rather than those held up deep.

Smart Play:

Win Bet: LIKEALOT – Lightly raced, progressive, and bred for this trip. The type to keep improving.

Each-Way Saver: QUEBELLA – Will relish this longer trip and looks overpriced given her listed run and potential.

(12 runners make this an 8+ runner each-way race – 3 or 4 places depending on bookmaker.)
