Pace Angles:
This looks a very tactical race with very weak pace predicted. That puts emphasis on track position and race smarts. Prominent racers like JET SMART and BASKERVILLE could gain early control. Hold-up types such as LADY JAGO and SALLEY GARDENS risk being compromised unless there’s a pace injection mid-race.

Strongest Contenders:
JET SMART (IRE) – Promising. A dominant point performer who made all and jumped well when winning on return to Rules at Worcester. Tactically sharp, well suited by weak pace, and retains a potentially generous mark (130p Timeform). Looks a strong profile for follow-up success, especially with Bryan Carver staying on.
NORTHERN BOUND (IRE) – Proven. Consistent and experienced in this type of event. Returned from a break with a decisive 7-length win at Worcester, and the 11-year-old still moves with enthusiasm. A 124 Timeform rating is accurate, but he may not have the upside of Jet Smart now.
Main Dangers:
SLADE SHORE – Promising. Made a striking start to chasing when bolting up at Worcester. Manner of that success implies plenty more to come, though the pace setup today is less favourable than it was there. Can still figure if positioning isn’t too passive.
BASKERVILLE (IRE) – Progressive. Visibly improved since switching to fences. Won at Stratford in good style before a slight dip last time when jumping lacked fluency. Capable of better and likely to be ridden handily again.
LADY JAGO (IRE) – Proven. Consistent mare in mares’ company but hasn’t had the clearest runs in mixed company recently. Won at Ludlow in tidy fashion in May, and drop back to 2½m helps here.

Runner Scores and Suitability Analysis:
JET SMART: 9/10 – Well-positioned for pace, smart jumping, lots of upside.
NORTHERN BOUND: 8/10 – Dependable, solid recent win, suited by ground.
SLADE SHORE: 7.5/10 – Strong chasing debut, but race shape less ideal today.
BASKERVILLE: 7.5/10 – On upward curve, strong pace angle, minor jumping concern.
LADY JAGO: 7/10 – Can go well, but pace a worry and faces open company.
IMAC WOOD: 6/10 – Shaped as if needing last run, could step forward.
SALLEY GARDENS: 5/10 – Exposed, pulled up latest, tactical pace may not help.
GLAJOU: 4.5/10 – Very long absence, likely to need this.
KILMURRY JJ: 3/10 – Folded tamely on return, hard to recommend.
Keep an eye on the market for support or big drifts for runners returning from layoffs of 90+ days.
Watch out for in-form chasers returning quickly; they can be hot.

Each-Way Angles:
With 9 runners, each-way betting applies. BASKERVILLE has scope for place claims at a fair price and is less exposed than several in this field.
—
Private Tissue Estimate:
JET SMART – 11/4
NORTHERN BOUND – 7/2
SLADE SHORE – 4/1
BASKERVILLE – 6/1
LADY JAGO – 8/1
IMAC WOOD – 14/1
SALLEY GARDENS – 20/1

Market watch advised for runners making their 2nd start.

Summary:
A slowly-run tactical contest likely to favour those racing prominently. JET SMART brings winning point experience and shaped very well back under Rules – he remains fairly handicapped and is tactically ideal for today’s setup. NORTHERN BOUND is reliable and battle-hardened, while SLADE SHORE is interesting but might be less suited by how the race unfolds.
Smart Play:
Win: JET SMART
Each-Way Saver: BASKERVILLE (if 6/1 or bigger)
