Pace Angles:
An even pace is anticipated, likely favouring runners with tactical speed who can sit just behind the leaders. It may count against those needing a strong gallop, especially DOTHAN, who was best finishing last time out. By contrast, CHUTI MANIKA may benefit from a tactical scenario if getting a soft lead.
Draw Angles:
With just seven runners and no discernible draw bias at Catterick over this trip, the draw is considered neutral. Tactical positioning will be more influential than stall placement.

Strongest Contenders, Dangers & Outsiders:
DOTHAN – Progressive
Lightly raced 3-y-o who looked unlucky at Ripon when denied a clear run. Returns to 6f, a trip that gives him more time to deploy his finish. Shaped well behind solid rivals and has more to offer. Needs a bit of luck in running but clearly unexposed in handicaps. Top trainer in form.
ANCIENT TIMES – Proven
In consistent form and very solid at this level. Narrow second last time, stays 6f well and is suited by today’s conditions. Usually races close to the pace, which will be ideal in a race lacking strong tempo. Strong course performer with tactical versatility.
WHEELS OF FIRE – Promising
3-y-o with good figures and improving profile. Caught the eye at Goodwood latest and might progress further for this yard. Needs to settle early but has upside, and the booking of Alec Voikhansky (3) is notable for a yard in hot form.
CHUTI MANIKA – Proven
Has shaped well a few times without winning. Usually races prominently and will be advantaged by a soft pace. Holds decent turf form and may be best when able to dictate. Not dismissed, though there are stronger stayers in the field.
SIR GARFIELD – Proven
Goes well at Catterick and has won two of last five. Below form last time at Haydock, but form prior to that was rock-solid. Wears blinkers, and drop back to Catterick might spark a revival. Place contender.
MEGAPHONE – Capable but patchy
Back from a break and below form recently. May need the race or ideally faster ground. Best form on AW earlier this year, but a strong yard and Tudhope suggest a better effort could be forthcoming. Risky but capable.
LUCKY MAN – Regressive
Well handicapped on old form but little shown in recent turf efforts. Would need a revival, and profile doesn’t currently inspire.

Runner Scores & Suitability:
Dothan – 8/10: Suited by track and trip; needs a gap late but improving.
Ancient Times – 8/10: Consistent, well drawn, ideal setup.
Wheels of Fire – 7/10: In form and tactically flexible; improving.
Chuti Manika – 6/10: May get the run of the race; exposed but capable.
Sir Garfield – 6/10: Back at favoured track; honest but might need pace collapse.
Megaphone – 5/10: Form tailed off; returns from break for a yard that can rejuvenate.
Lucky Man – 3/10: Poor recent form; needs a revival.
Keep an eye on the market for support or big drifts for runners returning from layoffs of 90+ days.

Summary + Professional Punter View
A competitive sprint handicap with a mix of seasoned handicappers and progressive 3-y-os. Dothan is still on the up and was full of running when denied last time. If granted a clearer passage, he should go close. Ancient Times is rock-solid and rates the most reliable alternative, while Wheels of Fire is a viable win threat with further progress.
Smart Play:
Win – Dothan: Fast finisher with strong upside; ideally drawn and primed.
Saver – Ancient Times: Consistent, tactically versatile, and at home over the course and trip.
