14:15 Carlisle: PricedUp Nursery Handicap
This is a Class 4 handicap race for 2-year-old horses, rated 0-80. The race is run over 6 furlongs (5f182y) on a Good To Firm going at Carlisle, with stalls on the Inside. The total guaranteed prize money is £10,500, with £5,495.70 going to the winner. The highest weight is 9st 9lb, and the minimum is 8st 2lb. Penalties of 6lb apply for each race won after August 2nd.
- 1. Mighty Magnus (2yo, 9st 9lb, OR 79): Trained by Michael Dods and ridden by Connor Beasley. He has improved with each of his three small-field runs at Ayr last month, culminating in an easy maiden win from the front. While it’s hard to assess the exact worth of that win, he has more to contend with in a handicap but could offer further improvement. His TS is 75 and RPR is 85.
- 2. Valor Spirit (2yo, 9st 4lb, OR 74): Trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Warren Fentiman. After being comfortably held in two spring runs, he showed better form last time after a three-month break, despite a hampered start and having to race wide. The stiffer test of today’s course should suit him based on his Pontefract performance. His TS is 71 and RPR is 82.
- 3. Miss Piggle (2yo, 9st 4lb, OR 74): Trained by Hugo Palmer and ridden by Harry Davies. She won on her debut on Tapeta but has not progressed since being highly tried. On her nursery debut last time, she was well-fancied but pulled hard and hung left behind Dacres Cross. She has something to prove with the first-time tongue-tie and first-time headgear. Her TS is 81 and RPR is 84.
- NR. Mister Moet (2yo, 9st 1lb, OR 71): This horse is a NON-RUNNER.
- 5. Moretons (2yo, 9st 1lb, OR 71): Trained by George Scott and ridden by Callum Shepherd. He had two costly defeats in the spring, pulling hard each time, before being gelded. He again tended to hang right and was well held at Ripon last month. It will be interesting to see if he attracts betting support now making his handicap debut in headgear. His TS is 56 and RPR is 81.
- 6. Dacres Cross (2yo, 9st 0lb, OR 70): Trained by Kevin Ryan and ridden by Oisin McSweeney. He had a solid nursery debut off this mark a month ago after being gelded, especially considering he got no peace in front and was struck into (Miss Piggle finished behind him). He is considered a contender. His TS is 74 and RPR is 82.
Estimated Tissue Odds: 6/4 Mighty Magnus, 7/4 Valor Spirit, 5/1 Moretons, 8/1 Dacres Cross, 16/1 Miss Piggle.
Top Contender + Main Dangers: The top choice is Mighty Magnus, who is considered progressive and should have more to offer, having given Michael Dods his first juvenile win of the year recently. Valor Spirit is also a strong contender, having shown improvement and likely to be suited by the stiffer course.
14:45 Carlisle: pricedup.bet Handicap
This is a Class 5 handicap race for 3-year-olds and older horses, rated 0-68. The race is run over 6 furlongs (5f182y) on Good To Firm going at Carlisle, with stalls on the Inside. The total guaranteed prize money is £8,000, with £4,187.20 for the winner. The highest weight for 4yo+ is 10st, and for 3yo is 9st 10lb; minimum weights are 8-9 for 4yo+ and 8-5 for 3yo. Penalties apply for wins after August 2nd: 6lb for 3yo, 5lb for 4-6yo, and 4lb for 7yo+.
- 1. Cargin Bhui (4yo, 10st 0lb, OR 68): Trained by David & Nicola Barron and ridden by William Pyle. His only win has been on AW, and he has dropped significantly in the weights this year, with two forms of headgear proving unhelpful. However, a strong-finishing third last time gives him claims on this stiffer course if he can build on that effort. His TS is 65 and RPR is 71.
- 2. Winter Crown (5yo, 10st 0lb, OR 68): Trained by Julie Camacho and ridden by Tom Kiely-Marshall. He has had little luck since the cheekpieces were removed, recently pulling hard and failing to stay 7f (behind Simply Blue). Today’s stiff 5.8f should be fine, and he should have no excuses off a career-low mark. His TS is 67 and RPR is 75.
- 3. Orbital Chime (5yo, 9st 13lb, OR 67): Trained by Katie Scott and ridden by Oisin McSweeney. His sole win came on heavy ground, and he typically avoids fast ground, making the drying weather a concern. This mark is within his range, but he has become inconsistent and will need the breaks from a wide stall. He has raced frequently over 7f. His TS is 57 and RPR is 74.
- 4. Glory Hyde (4yo, 9st 12lb, OR 66): Trained by Roger Fell and ridden by Joanna Mason. She is a consistent filly who found the leaders too strong at Thirsk last time. She is adaptable regarding course and ground, and is expected to perform well again. Her TS is 66 and RPR is 72.
- 5. One Of Our Own (5yo, 9st 9lb, OR 63): Trained by Rebecca Menzies and ridden by Kaiya Fraser. She has run well at this course several times without winning. She was below-par and raced keenly behind Glory Hyde at Thirsk last time and needs to bounce back from this current mark. His TS is 63 and RPR is 73.
- 6. Simply Blue (3yo, 9st 9lb, OR 67): Trained by David Loughnane and ridden by Clifford Lee. The handicapper has quickly eased his mark, and he has produced three solid efforts in cheekpieces, including finishing behind Winter Crown at Chester. He remains a maiden but is one to consider. His TS is 66 and RPR is 74.
- 7. Respectful (4yo, 9st 9lb, OR 63): Trained by Paul Midgley and ridden by Mark Winn. He was a dual 7f winner as a 2yo but has been hard to place since. The handicapper is easing his mark, and he may have needed his recent run at Thirsk after a six-month break, but he will need to improve significantly on that performance. His TS is 58 and RPR is 72.
- 8. Close Connection (4yo, 9st 8lb, OR 62): Trained by Michael Dods and ridden by Connor Beasley. He has shown two poor efforts this summer after a year off and runs in first-time headgear today. He has performed poorly in all starts except his heavy-ground novice win last spring and is difficult to recommend. His TS is 8 and RPR is 71.
- 9. Promise Time (3yo, 9st 8lb, OR 66): Trained by Nigel Tinkler and ridden by Alex Jary. His C&D win in May has been well-advertised, and he subsequently defied a 9lb rise. He again pulled hard when well held off this mark a few weeks ago, and it’s possible he has reached his peak unless he learns to settle better. His TS is 56 and RPR is 73.
- 10. Memphisatmidnight (3yo, 8st 11lb, OR 55): Trained by Tim Easterby and ridden by Sean Kirrane. This lightly raced maiden offered more off this mark last time in a Redcar 0-55. He will need another forward step to overcome the outside stall. His TS is 52 and RPR is 71.
Estimated Tissue Odds: 4/1 Simply Blue, Winter Crown, 5/1 Promise Time, 7/1 Cargin Bhui, 8/1 Glory Hyde, Memphisatmidnight, Orbital Chime, 10/1 One Of Our Own, 20/1 Respectful, 25/1 Close Connection.
Top Contender + Main Dangers: The top choice is Winter Crown, who is 3lb better off than Simply Blue from their last encounter and has a 5lb claimer in Tom Kiely-Marshall, making him capable of turning the tables over a shorter distance. Paper Doll is the second choice upon returning to turf, and Cargin Bhui also has claims if he can build on his recent third-place finish.
15:00 Lingfield (AW): 7f Handicap
This is a Class 4 handicap race for 3-year-old horses, rated 0-85. It is run over 7 furlongs (7f1y) on Polytrack with Standard going at Lingfield, with stalls on the Inside. The total guaranteed prize money is £10,000, with £5,234.00 for the winner. The highest weight is 9st 9lb, and the minimum is 8st 4lb. Penalties of 6lb apply for each race won after August 2nd.
- 1. Invited (3yo, 9st 9lb, OR 84): Trained by George Boughey and ridden by Billy Loughnane. He has a strong record on AW, winning 2 of 3 starts for his new yard, including at Kempton (1m) in March. He returned to form with a close third at Yarmouth (1m) in June. Despite a high draw for the return to 7f, he still holds AW potential and is a contender. His TS is 76 and RPR is 95.
- 2. Gilet (3yo, 9st 9lb, OR 84): Trained by Warren Greatrex and ridden by Charles Bishop. He got off the mark in a 6f AW maiden on this track last September. He put in a useful effort over 1m at Newbury in May but has since appeared to be weighted to his best on turf and needs more for his return to AW. His TS is – and RPR is 94.
- 3. Belgrave (3yo, 9st 9lb, OR 84): Trained by Ralph Beckett and ridden by Rossa Ryan. All of his races have been at 6f. He was a progressive 2yo, concluding the season with a novice win at Leicester (heavy), but has had a very slow start to 2025 and was gelded after his last appearance in May. He has questions to answer over the new trip. His TS is – and RPR is 93.
- 4. Majestic Wave (3yo, 9st 5lb, OR 80): Trained by Simon Dow and ridden by Paddy Bradley. He won a 6f Navan maiden as a 2yo. He made an encouraging start over 6f on this track in February for his new yard but has since failed to progress and was well beaten over C&D in June. He has been gelded since and is best watched. His TS is 84 and RPR is 98.
- 5. Naina (3yo, 9st 5lb, OR 80): Trained by John Ryan and ridden by Laura Pearson. She had a highly successful second half of 2024, winning four 7f turf races. She was soundly beaten in her first two runs this year but performed much better when narrowly defeated at Newmarket ten days ago, reverting to front-running after a break. She should run well if she handles AW on her first attempt. Her TS is – and RPR is 94.
- 6. Al Joory (3yo, 9st 4lb, OR 79): Trained by Roger Varian and ridden by Jim Crowley. She has appeared green in all three of her runs but overcame this to win on Kempton AW (7f) in May. She faced a tough task under a penalty at Doncaster in June, finishing in her own time. She remains of interest now handicapping back on Polytrack. Her TS is 68 and RPR is 92.
- 7. Noble Victory (3yo, 9st 2lb, OR 77): Trained by James Tate and ridden by Hector Crouch. He won a 6f AW maiden at Chelmsford in February. He has since had some fair handicap runs, and given he was picking up nicely late on in a recent Racing League race on Wolverhampton AW, he looks worth a try at 7f and can be involved. His TS is 82 and RPR is 96.
- 8. Bint Mohaather (3yo, 9st 2lb, OR 77): Trained by Jack Channon and ridden by Kieran Shoemark. She significantly improved on her 2yo debut with a wide-margin win at Wolverhampton (7f, AW) on her reappearance. She was not far off that form when a close third over 6f at Doncaster in July and is considered to be in the mix. Her TS is 51 and RPR is 94.
- 9. I Maximus (3yo, 9st 2lb, OR 77): Trained by Richard Hughes and ridden by Oisin Murphy. He led and held on for a dead-heat in his latest AW start over 6f at Chelmsford in March (form has since been franked). He has shown little impact on turf since, but a return to Polytrack can help on his return to 7f with headgear removed. His TS is 83 and RPR is 93.
- 10. Ardennes (3yo, 9st 2lb, OR 77): Trained by Michael Appleby and ridden by Alistair Rawlinson. He won a 6f turf novice as a 2yo. He placed in three of his first four AW starts for this yard but has since faced difficulties, including after wind surgery. He is now in cheekpieces and is considered a risky prospect. His TS is 85 and RPR is 97.
- 11. Apache Green (3yo, 9st 1lb, OR 76): Trained by S Woods and ridden by Hollie Doyle. He won a 6f Pontefract novice on his second of three starts for William Haggas. He took a healthy step in the right direction with a close third at Leicester (7f) on his second run for this yard. While this race appears more competitive on his AW debut, he still has potential for improvement. His TS is – and RPR is 92.
- NR. Dannick (3yo, 9st 0lb, OR 75): This horse is a NON-RUNNER.
- 13. Dutch Finale (3yo, 9st 0lb, OR 75): Trained by Stuart Williams and ridden by Marco Ghiani. He was a clear winner of his first AW handicap (6f) at this course. He then finished a close third over 7f at Chelmsford under a penalty before keeping on nicely when third at Windsor (6f) in June. He was sold for 42,000gns since leaving George Boughey and is now tongue-tied, making him an interesting prospect for his new yard. His TS is 77 and RPR is 96.
- 14. Nahash (3yo, 8st 12lb, OR 73): Trained by James Horton and ridden by Jack Mitchell. He won a 7f Wolverhampton maiden as a 2yo. He had a useful reappearance, finishing third at Southwell (7f) behind a horse that has since won three times. However, he has been well held since on turf and faded after front-running over 1m at Southwell most recently. First-time headgear does not reassure. His TS is 84 and RPR is 95.
Estimated Tissue Odds: 9/2 Al Joory, 5/1 Noble Victory, 7/1 Bint Mohaather, I Maximus, Invited, 8/1 Naina, 9/1 Gilet, 10/1 Apache Green, Dutch Finale, 14/1 Belgrave, 20/1 Nahash, 33/1 Majestic Wave, 40/1 Ardennes.
Top Contender + Main Dangers: The race is tipped for Al Joory, who despite a tough task last time out, won impressively on Kempton AW previously and is expected to fulfill her potential now handicapping. Dutch Finale is an interesting prospect for his new yard and is considered the next best, ahead of Noble Victory and Invited.
15:15 Carlisle: PricedUp Daily Sports Boosts Handicap
This is a Class 4 handicap race for 3-year-olds and older horses, rated 0-85. The race is run over 1m6f (1m6f32y) on Good To Firm going at Carlisle, with stalls on the Inside. The total guaranteed prize money is £10,500, with £5,495.70 for the winner. The highest weight for 4yo+ is 10st 2lb, and for 3yo is 9st 6lb; minimum weights are 8-11 for 4yo+ and 8-2 for 3yo. Penalties apply for wins after August 2nd: 6lb for 3yo, 5lb for 4-6yo, and 4lb for 7yo+.
- 1. Arrange (7yo, 10st 2lb, OR 80): Trained by Martin Todhunter and ridden by Mark Winn. Her wins, including at this course, typically occur around this time of year, with her last win being off a 3lb higher mark last August. While a bounce back after a short break isn’t impossible, she has struggled in recent times. Her TS is 69 and RPR is 85.
- 2. Curran (4yo, 9st 10lb, OR 74): Trained by Charlie Johnston and ridden by Callum Shepherd. He found races falling perfectly twice in June but has been inconsistent off his revised mark since. There’s a good chance he’ll be able to dictate the pace in front this time, which would make him dangerous. His TS is 55 and RPR is 83.
- 3. Clan Chieftain (5yo, 9st 8lb, OR 72): Trained by Jackie Stephen and ridden by Shane Gray. He produced his best hurdles effort yet a month ago but does not appear well handicapped back on the Flat, having finished well behind at Ripon in June off 2lb higher. Other horses have more pressing claims. His TS is 65 and RPR is 81.
- 4. Tafsir (6yo, 9st 6lb, OR 70): Trained by Jim Goldie and ridden by Ben Robinson. She had five wins last year, with her last being off a 3lb higher mark, but has not performed as well this year, often pulling hard. She hung right last time, finishing behind stablemate Alnayef, and needs to settle better over this stiff 1m6f trip. Her TS is 64 and RPR is 84.
- 5. Marbuzet (6yo, 9st 6lb, OR 70): Trained by Tim Easterby and ridden by Sean Kirrane. He is enjoying a consistent season and is a proven winner, including over C&D, but has never won off a mark quite this high. There’s no obvious reason he won’t run well again, but he needs to find a bit more. His TS is 78 and RPR is 85.
- 6. Paper Doll (5yo, 9st 6lb, OR 70): Trained by Tristan Davidson and ridden by Rowan Scott. This ex-Irish mare has barely put a foot wrong for her current yard. She finished second at Ayr before a win at Pontefract off 6lb lower, and is shortlisted back on turf after encountering trouble on Tapeta last time. Her TS is 72 and RPR is 82.
- 7. Alnayef (4yo, 9st 4lb, OR 68): Trained by Jim Goldie and ridden by Kaiya Fraser. This ex-Gosden maiden has found his level, performing much better for his in-form yard off a 2lb lower mark last time. Today’s stiffer course and slightly longer trip should suit him, making him a leading contender. His TS is 66 and RPR is 83.
- 8. Wasthatok (7yo, 9st 1lb, OR 65): Trained by Philip Kirby and ridden by Cam Hardie. This ex-Irish gelding regressed over hurdles this year for Kerry Lee and missed a significant part of his career. He finished behind Paper Doll on Tapeta for his new yard last time. His TS is – and RPR is 82.
Estimated Tissue Odds: 7/2 Alnayef, Paper Doll, 4/1 Curran, Marbuzet, 8/1 Arrange, 10/1 Tafsir, 16/1 Clan Chieftain, Wasthatok.
Top Contender + Main Dangers: The top selection is Alnayef, who showed nothing wrong with his Hamilton second ten days ago (with Tafsir behind him) and is fancied to give Jim Goldie another winner. Paper Doll is the second choice back on turf, and Curran is capable if he is allowed to dictate the pace.
16:07 Lingfield: British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Handicap
This is a Class 3 handicap race for 3-year-old and older fillies & mares, rated 76-95 and EBF eligible. The race is run over 1m1f on Good To Firm going at Lingfield, with stalls on the Inside. The total guaranteed prize money is £25,000, with £13,085.00 for the winner. The highest weight for 4yo+ is 10st 2lb, and for 3yo is 9st 8lb; minimum weights are 8-11 for 4yo+ and 8-3 for 3yo. Penalties apply for wins after August 2nd: 6lb for 3yo, 5lb for 4-6yo, and 4lb for 7yo+.
- 1. La Ferveur (3yo, 9st 9lb, OR 85): Trained by Dr Richard Newland & Jamie Insole and ridden by Hollie Doyle. She has been in the frame on all starts since her debut, often running creditably against promising types, before winning a maiden in the French provinces (about 1m, good) in June for Andre Fabre. She was sold for 50,000gns in July and is worth a market check on her British debut. Her TS is 62 and RPR is 85.
- 2. Charming Princess (3yo, 9st 8lb, OR 84): Trained by Ralph Beckett and ridden by Rossa Ryan. This well-connected filly made a more experienced and promising Haggas filly work hard at Ffos Las in July. She then comfortably got off the mark at Pontefract (1m, good) 16 days ago, proving game from the front. She should be open to improvement now making her handicap debut. His TS is 79 and RPR is 91.
- 3. Silent City (3yo, 9st 4lb, OR 80): Trained by Roger Varian and ridden by Silvestre De Sousa. She had no trouble winning an ordinary 1m maiden at Windsor (good to firm) on her second start. The race at Hamilton (about 1m, good) in July didn’t go her way, as she was checked early and raced freely. She remains open to progress now making her handicap debut. Her TS is 79 and RPR is 88.
- 4. Typical Woman (6yo, 9st 3lb, OR 71): Trained by Ian Williams and ridden by Billy Loughnane. She secured two more wins last August over 1m2f (good). However, she has been inconsistent over various trips, including this one, in 2025, and an extended 1m5f at Newbury (first-time tongue-tie, retained) last month did not work out. She currently has something to prove. Her TS is 61 and RPR is 90.
Estimated Tissue Odds: 6/4 Charming Princess, 13/8 Silent City, 9/2 La Ferveur, 6/1 Typical Woman.
Top Contender + Main Dangers: The race is seen as a contest between Charming Princess and Silent City on their handicap debuts, with Charming Princess marginally preferred. Both horses should be suited by the step up in trip, despite contrasting fortunes in their latest starts (Charming Princess dictating successfully, Silent City unable to get into position).
19:10 Hamilton: Hamilton Park Scottish Trophy Handicap
This is a Class 3 handicap race for 3-year-olds and older horses, rated 71-90. The race is run over 1m1f (1m1f35y) on Good To Soft going at Hamilton, with stalls on the Inside. The total guaranteed prize money is £26,000, with £13,400.40 for the winner. The highest weight is 10st 2lb for 4yo+ and 9st 8lb for 3yo; minimum weights are 8-11 for 4yo+ and 8-3 for 3yo. Penalties apply for wins after August 2nd: 6lb for 3yo, 5lb for 4-6yo, and 4lb for 7yo+.
- 1. Bubbles Wonky (4yo, 9st 10lb, OR 82): Trained by Tim Easterby and ridden by David Allan. He was a C&D winner in June, beating Starliner, off only 2lb lower. However, he has finished no closer than 5 lengths in his subsequent races, last behind Wave Rider at Yarmouth. His trainer notes that he loves the track and handles any ground, and expects him to run well. His TS is 73 and RPR is 95.
- 2. Danger Bay (3yo, 9st 9lb, OR 89): Trained by Edward Bethell and ridden by Callum Rodriguez. He fulfilled previous promise with a comfortable win in a C&D maiden in June, beating a stablemate of Noble Horizon. He brings plenty of potential into handicaps. His trainer highlights his course-and-distance win and good form at home, making him a strong chance. His TS is 72 and RPR is 92.
- 3. Immediate Effect (3yo, 9st 8lb, OR 88): Trained by Sir Mark Prescott Bt and ridden by Luke Morris. He is a consistent dual AW winner. He narrowly failed to win last time at Wolverhampton (9.4f) wearing first-time cheekpieces and is expected to be fine back on grass. His TS is 71 and RPR is 92.
- 4. Noble Horizon (3yo, 9st 7lb, OR 87): Trained by William Haggas and ridden by Tom Marquand. He possesses a top-class pedigree, and his breakthrough win had been anticipated. He won comfortably from the front in a 1m2f novice at Leicester (good to firm) and looks sure to perform well in handicaps. His TS is 61 and RPR is 97.
- 5. Wave Rider (3yo, 9st 7lb, OR 87): Trained by Harry Charlton and ridden by Trevor Whelan. He was only 3 lengths away in Newbury’s strong London Gold Cup before winning a Sandown maiden by 3 lengths (1m2f, good to firm). He was strongly backed for a Racing League handicap at Yarmouth but had a wide trip on soft ground. He remains of interest. His trainer indicated he’d be content with slightly soft ground and noted his form this year has worked out well. His TS is 81 and RPR is 94.
- 6. Starliner (4yo, 9st 1lb, OR 73): Trained by Linda Perratt and ridden by Jason Hart. He performs well at this course. However, he was only seventh at Ayr on Saturday and may find one or two others better handicapped even if he returns to his best form. His TS is 80 and RPR is 90.
- 7. Ayr Poet (10yo, 8st 11lb, OR 69): Trained by Jim Goldie and ridden by Amie Waugh. His recent wins over 1m here have brought his total victories to 12, but he is now up in grade off an increased mark and appears vulnerable. His trainer acknowledges his wide draw but hopes for a good ride and expects him to make a race of it despite facing tougher competition. His TS is 69 and RPR is 88.
Estimated Tissue Odds: 5/2 Wave Rider, 11/4 Noble Horizon, 7/2 Danger Bay, Immediate Effect, 12/1 Bubbles Wonky, 16/1 Ayr Poet, 40/1 Starliner.
Top Contender + Main Dangers: The recommendation is to focus on the 3-year-olds in this race. Noble Horizon (nap) and Danger Bay are considered intriguing handicap debutants who both won emphatically last time out. Noble Horizon is highlighted for his high-class pedigree and perceived greater potential. Wave Rider is also a key interest and should not be judged solely on his Yarmouth run.
19:40 Hamilton: Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap
This is a Class 4 handicap race for 4-year-olds and older horses, rated 0-78. It is run over 6 furlongs (6f6y) on Good To Soft going at Hamilton, with stalls on the Stands’ side. The total guaranteed prize money is £10,100, with £5,286.34 for the winner. The highest weight is 9st 9lb, and the minimum is 8st 4lb. Penalties apply for wins after August 2nd: 5lb for 4-6yo, and 4lb for 7yo+.
- 1. Aberama Gold (8yo, 9st 11lb, OR 80): Trained by David O’Meara and ridden by Daniel Tudhope. He ended a losing run by winning against 17 rivals at York (6f, good to firm) last month. His last two runs were not as good, but he missed a beat at the start at Wolverhampton and couldn’t adopt his usual prominent position. He would not mind if rain arrives and this C&D winner is a leading contender at this level. His TS is 86 and RPR is 89.
- 2. Lord Abama (6yo, 9st 6lb, OR 75): Trained by Michael Dods and ridden by Tom Eaves. He has two 6f wins this year, the latest on fast turf at Thirsk in June. Two solid efforts have followed, and he should give it another good go. He seems to handle most ground conditions. His TS is 80 and RPR is 87.
- 3. Hour By Hour (5yo, 9st 6lb, OR 75): Trained by Iain Jardine and ridden by Mohammed Tabti. Three of his four wins have come over C&D, including two in a productive spell last autumn. He has had two satisfactory efforts this summer, and his claims would be enhanced by significant rain. His stable also runs Novak in this race. His TS is 81 and RPR is 88.
- 4. Emperor Caradoc (6yo, 9st 5lb, OR 74): Trained by Paul Midgley and ridden by Harry Russell. He has two Nottingham wins this season (6f, good to firm; handles slower ground). He was unable to make an impression in a Class 4 race at York 18 days ago, and others hold more convincing claims. His TS is 84 and RPR is 89.
- 5. Sir Garfield (4yo, 9st 5lb, OR 74): Trained by John & Sean Quinn and ridden by Jason Hart. He is enjoying a good year, winning over 7f at Catterick in May and over C&D in June. He has maintained his form, most recently finishing second at Pontefract last week (6f, good to firm), responding well. Another big run looks assured. His TS is 84 and RPR is 90.
- 6. Novak (6yo, 9st 5lb, OR 74): Trained by Iain Jardine and ridden by Archie Young. He was a C&D winner in 2023. He has two wins on AW this year, the latest off 2lb higher in April (7f). He was not far off his best when second at Musselburgh three weeks ago (7f, good). More is needed back up in class. His stable also runs Hour By Hour. His TS is 66 and RPR is 87.
- 7. Ziggy’s Condor (4yo, 9st 5lb, OR 74): Trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Oisin Orr. He has a modest strike-rate for his ability. He is now 5lb lower than for his Southwell win in February but has been inconsistent this summer. Returning to 6f will not be a problem, and he is capable on a good day. The returning visor looks a positive. His TS is 81 and RPR is 88.
- 8. Eternal Sunshine (5yo, 9st 4lb, OR 73): Trained by Jim Goldie and ridden by Paul Mulrennan. She made giant strides in 2024, winning five times. There have been some near misses this year, including at Ayr last month (5f, good). This race should be more suitable than her Wolverhampton run 12 days ago, making her an each-way shout. His TS is 76 and RPR is 89.
- 9. Sacred Falls (5yo, 9st 1lb, OR 70): Trained by Katie Scott and ridden by Callum Rodriguez. She was successful at Catterick in April (6f, good to firm). She has often run well in defeat since but was not at her best over C&D last month. A few others in this field appear stronger. His TS is 77 and RPR is 86.
- 10. Habrdi (4yo, 9st 0lb, OR 69): Trained by Ruth Carr and ridden by James Sullivan. He has yet to find his form for Ruth Carr in 2025 but has dropped 18lb in the weights. The combination of first-time cheekpieces and a drop to 6f could pique his interest. While not a solid choice, he cannot be confidently discounted. His TS is 82 and RPR is 85.
- 11. Iris Dancer (7yo, 8st 13lb, OR 68): Trained by Tristan Davidson and ridden by Andrew Mullen. She has finished first or second in 15 of her 29 starts at Hamilton. She won twice here in June within seven days. Although she struggled at York in her last two runs due to poor draws, she can do much better this time. Her TS is 81 and RPR is 89.
Estimated Tissue Odds: 4/1 Sir Garfield, 5/1 Aberama Gold, 6/1 Lord Abama, 7/1 Eternal Sunshine, 8/1 Hour By Hour, Novak, 10/1 Iris Dancer, Ziggy’s Condor, 12/1 Sacred Falls, 14/1 Emperor Caradoc, 20/1 Habrdi.
Top Contender + Main Dangers: Aberama Gold is the top choice, being only 1lb higher than his significant York win and likely to benefit from any rain. Iris Dancer is the second choice, expected to perform much better back at her favored track after being poorly drawn at York. Hour By Hour is also dangerously handicapped and loves this track. Other horses with strong cases include Sir Garfield, Ziggy’s Condor, and Eternal Sunshine.
