Pace Angles:
This looks a strongly-run race with multiple pace-forcing types: Bring It On, Akabusi, and Dandy’s Rocket have all made the running or been prominent. Expect early pressure, which could set things up for those who finish.
Draw Angles:
Southwell’s Tapeta at 6f is generally fair, but the inside three stalls are slightly advantageous for prominent racers, especially if breaking alertly. No runner is severely compromised by draw.
Strongest Contenders, Dangers & Outsiders
Strongest Contenders:
- Akabusi – Progressive. Improved for blinkers and has posted strong efforts in handicaps at Nottingham. Proven over 6f, races prominently, and handles turf and AW. Drawn well in 8, and will be on the premises if repeating recent form.
- Kunaa – Promising. Lightly raced and improved in nurseries; stayed on nicely when winning at Musselburgh. This stiffer 6f could suit. A half-sister to Haatem, and shaping up like one who’ll improve with racing and distance.
- Bring It On – Proven. Had a poor trip at Windsor (stumbled after clipping rail), but earlier efforts were solid. Well bred, gelded prior to peak runs, and the Tapeta may suit based on pedigree and running style.
Main Dangers:
- Head For Freedom – Progressive. Beverley winner, and his Hamilton nursery third over this trip suggested he stays 6f well. Related to AW winners and has the pedigree for Tapeta. Likely improver.
- Dandy’s Rocket – Progressive. Won on nursery debut at Leicester. Carries a 6lb penalty but shaped as if extra yardage would suit. Comes here after being gelded and looks a sprinter going the right way.
Interesting Outsiders:
- Thehunnebelllegacy – Unexposed. Three runs in maidens and shaped as if she’ll improve for 6f. Bred to progress with time and distance. Nursery debut could unlock better.
- Kodigara – Scopey. Musselburgh maiden second (RPR 83) remains the standout form. Not yet proven over 6f or AW but has shaped like it might help. Market could guide.
Hold-up Risks:
None are complete “hold-up” types, but Thehunnebelllegacy and Head For Freedom may be forced back early, so they’ll need a good pace to close into.
Runner Scores & Suitability
- Akabusi: 8.5/10 – In form, blinkers effective, solid recent RPRs; suited to 6f and likely to handle surface.
- Kunaa: 8/10 – Won well in weaker race but improving filly with stamina and finishing effort.
- Bring It On: 7.5/10 – Better than latest; back in calmer waters and bred to be useful.
- Head For Freedom: 7.5/10 – Unexposed, bred for AW, looks like he’ll progress further.
- Dandy’s Rocket: 7/10 – Penalised for recent win; stamina for 6f a plus but might find a few better in this stronger field.
- Thehunnebelllegacy: 6.5/10 – Quiet in maidens but shaped with promise. Could improve a lot in nursery.
- Kodigara: 6/10 – One big effort among otherwise ordinary form. May need more time or further.
- Captain Bruce: 4.5/10 – Marked drop in grade from class 2/4 but has shown very little; well drawn and receives weight, but hard to fancy.
Keep an eye on the market for support or big drifts for runners making nursery debuts.
2yos often improve for switch to Tapeta; breeding clues key.
Each-Way Angles (8 Runners)
- Thehunnebelllegacy – Rates as the best value each-way bet. Improvement likely now she’s up to 6f and into handicaps.
- Head For Freedom – In-form yard and positive stamina signals; could be running on late.
Private Tissue Estimate
- Akabusi – 5/2
- Kunaa – 10/3
- Bring It On – 9/2
- Head For Freedom – 6/1
- Dandy’s Rocket – 13/2
- Thehunnebelllegacy – 10/1
- Kodigara – 12/1
- Captain Bruce – 20/1
Summary + Professional Punter View (Smart Play)
This is a compact but competitive nursery where the form horses (Akabusi, Kunaa) clash with a couple of upwardly mobile sorts (Head For Freedom, Dandy’s Rocket). The pace should be genuine and that may help those settling just off it.
Smart Play:
- Win Selection: Akabusi – strong form in nurseries, stays 6f, thriving since blinkers applied.
- Each-Way Saver: Thehunnebelllegacy – bred to improve, quietly eye-catching in maidens, now in her grade.
