8.50 Kempton – Try Unibet’s New Smartview Racecards Handicap (Div II), Class 5, 3yo, 7f (AW)

·

Race Conditions + Pace Angles + Draw Angles:
This is a Class 5 3yo-only handicap over 7f at Kempton on standard to slow polytrack. A mixture of exposed types and lightly raced improvers. Moby Quick, Silca Bay, and possibly Takteek look the likeliest pace influencers, shaping a solid to honest pace. Inside draws (1–5) are preferred at Kempton over 7f and will assist those racing handy. Just King High (1) and Takteek (2) benefit most.

Strongest Contenders, Main Dangers & Interesting Outsiders

Strongest Contenders:

  • Silca Bay – Progressive
Consistent in 7f handicaps, including two recent C&D thirds, staying on with purpose and doing best from off the pace. One-paced but very genuine and will appreciate a strong pace. Still unexposed and capable of further.
  • Moby Quick – Proven at 6f, Unproven at 7f
Won narrowly at Leicester two starts ago but disappointed under penalty on easier going last time. Step back up to 7f and return to AW may suit; his best effort came on Tapeta (4th at Wolves) over this trip.
  • Lexington Jet – Promising Handicap Debut
Beaten less than three lengths by the progressive I’m Workin On It last time here. Improving, shapes like 7f is right, and connections have persisted. Needs to build on it but profile suggests a possible step forward.

Main Dangers:

  • Just King High – AW Winner, Needs More
Won well on debut at Southwell but has been highly tried in turf handicaps since. Back on AW and down in class, now drawn stall 1, he’s a likely bounce-back candidate. Yard quiet but the draw is a big plus.
  • Yuvraaj – Regressive Profile but Won C&D
Got up late to win here off 70 in May. Since found 10f stretching and form dipped back on turf. Return to AW, especially C&D, makes him dangerous, though he’s tricky to catch right.

Interesting Outsiders:

  • Takteek – Weak Form but New Stable
Weak finishes so far, but now with James Owen (5 wins in last 14 days), gelded, and back at a sharper trip. Drawn well in 2. Worth monitoring for “go day” vibes.
  • Island Ocean – Poor Overall, One Glimmer
Best effort came in a C&D Class 6 where she shaped okay. Generally weak form, but lightly raced and trainer Luke Morris combo can produce placers at big odds in the right setup.

Runner Scores and Suitability Analysis:

  • Silca Bay: 7.5/10 – Consistent, improving, handles C&D well.
  • Lexington Jet: 7/10 – Progressing, suited by 7f, yard in form.
  • Just King High: 6.5/10 – AW winner, drop in class, strong draw.
  • Moby Quick: 6.5/10 – Back on AW, but didn’t finish latest effort with conviction.
  • Yuvraaj: 6/10 – Capable but unreliable; return to C&D a plus.
  • Takteek: 5.5/10 – Stable switch, low mark, could surprise.
  • Amor Cordis: 5/10 – Down the weights but limited response.
  • Legend Forever: 4.5/10 – Expensive purchase but hard to fancy on evidence so far.
  • Island Ocean: 4/10 – Poor overall but slight glimmer on C&D run.
  • Others: 3/10 or lower – Hard to recommend without market move.

Keep an eye on the market for support or big drifts for runners returning from layoffs of 90+ days.
Watch out for in-form sprinters returning quickly; they can be hot.

Each-Way Angles (10 runners):

Lexington Jet and Silca Bay rate each-way plays, depending on prices. Both hold reliable recent form over C&D, with Lexington Jet potentially more progressive.

Private Tissue Estimate:

  • Silca Bay – 4/1
  • Lexington Jet – 9/2
  • Moby Quick – 11/2
  • Just King High – 6/1
  • Yuvraaj – 7/1
  • Takteek – 10/1
  • Amor Cordis – 14/1
  • Island Ocean – 20/1
  • Legend Forever – 25/1
  • Others – 33/1+

Market watch advised for runners making their 2nd start.

Summary + Professional Punter View

Division II is slightly less competitive than Division I but contains several solid C&D types and one or two who may still have upside. Silca Bay continues to shape like a winner-in-waiting and will benefit from a good pace, while Lexington Jet shaped like a future winner when running on into third last time and represents a consistent yard.

Smart Play

  • Win Selection: Silca Bay – consistent, strong finishers can get their reward in these setups.
  • Each-Way Saver: Lexington Jet – on the upgrade, solid C&D credentials.
