5.25 Bellewstown – Connolly’s RED MILLS Irish EBF Auction Maiden Hurdle (2m4f110y, Good)

·

Race Shape & Pace Angles:
Bellewstown’s sharp, undulating track puts emphasis on tactical speed as well as stamina. The 2m4f trip on good ground should favour a fluent jumper who can sit handy and travel. Likely pace comes from Jackson Lamb, Twentyfourcarrot and possibly The Man’s Room, all of whom have led/pressed previously. Could be an even to strong gallop, testing stamina late.

Draw not a factor over hurdles here.

Strongest Contenders

Jackson Lamb (John McConnell) – Proven/Promising

  • Best form in bumpers (RPR 123) and already a course winner.
  • Travelled well back hurdling latest (3rd at Downpatrick), only nailed late.
  • Clearly enjoys Bellewstown and has tactical speed to sit handy.
  • Question: jumping still a little novicey; needs to settle.

The Man’s Room (C A Murphy) – Progressive Profile

  • Hurdle 2nd at Limerick (RPR 126) reads well; shaped as though further would suit.
  • Hasn’t built on it the last twice (6th both runs), but conditions today look more in favour.
  • A proper staying type who may be better suited by Bellewstown’s stiff finish than speedier rivals.

Ellis Mor (Dermot McLoughlin) – Improving

  • Pulled up twice in winter, but major step forward latest when 2nd at Tramore (RPR 106).
  • Found the winner too strong but shaped as though this trip/ground will suit.
  • Yard quiet but market confidence last time was significant.

Main Dangers

Twentyfourcarrot (Declan Queally) – Unexposed Mare

  • Won bumper easily (110 RPR) and ran well in a maiden hurdle at Clonmel (2nd, RPR 121).
  • Slightly disappointing the last twice, but has tactical pace and is bred to stay well.
  • Must bounce back but has upside.

Build A Bridge (Adrian Sexton) – Work in Progress

  • Shaped better than bare result in two maiden hurdles (best RPR 106).
  • Still learning, but by Blue Bresil and could improve with experience.

Jury Belle (J J Hanlon) – Interesting Outsider

  • Only had two bumper runs in UK, both fair (best RPR 111).
  • Pedigree suggests stamina, dam a strong producer.
  • First run over hurdles but could run above market expectations.

Less Convincing

  • Revolut Ned – Point winner but form under rules poor, pulled up 3 of last 4.
  • Bold Rhyme – Bumper figures modest, tailed off latest; stamina but lacks class.

Runner Scores (/10)

  • Jackson Lamb – 8/10 (course form, ability proven, just needs cleaner jumping)
  • The Man’s Room – 7.5/10 (stays strongly, if bouncing back can go close)
  • Ellis Mor – 7/10 (coming forward, solid Tramore 2nd)
  • Twentyfourcarrot – 7/10 (bumper ability, risky after last two)
  • Build A Bridge – 6/10 (scope, still raw)
  • Jury Belle – 6/10 (interesting pedigree, could improve plenty)
  • Revolut Ned – 4/10 (point winner, but unreliable under rules)
  • Bold Rhyme – 3/10 (limited form, stamina only weapon)

Private Tissue Odds

  • Jackson Lamb 5/2
  • The Man’s Room 3/1
  • Ellis Mor 9/2
  • Twentyfourcarrot 6/1
  • Build A Bridge 10/1
  • Jury Belle 12/1
  • Revolut Ned 20/1
  • Bold Rhyme 33/1

Summary & Smart Play

A competitive auction maiden hurdle, but the balance of recent form and track profile points to Jackson Lamb, who loves Bellewstown and ran well back hurdling last time. The Man’s Room looks the chief danger if bouncing back, with Ellis Mor also on the upgrade.

Smart Play:

  • Win bet: Jackson Lamb
  • Saver / each-way (if 8+ runners): The Man’s Room
  • Interesting outsider: Jury Belle (pedigree suggests she could surprise first time over hurdles).
