(Class 4, 1m2f219y, AW Std-Slow, 3yo only, £12k)
Pace & Draw Angles
- Pace: Even-to-strong. Likely contested lead – Ferrari Gold and Bulletin both like to race handy, while Grecian Legacy and Advancing often held up.
- Draw: Over 1m2f at Kempton, low-to-middle draws tend to hold a small edge. St Mawes (1) and Sea The Light (3) well berthed; Grecian Legacy (7) slightly wide but not disastrous.
Strongest Contenders
Bulletin (OR 80, Draw 5) – Progressive, 9/10
- Consistent handicapper, RPRs 89–96 recently.
- Proven over C&D type trip, stays well.
- Strong runs in Class 3/4, including a close 2nd at Sandown behind Dangerman.
- Well drawn, tactical speed, handles AW (Southwell/Wolves runs).
- Profile: rock-solid handicapper, still improving.
Grecian Legacy (OR 83, Draw 7) – Promising, 8/10
- Gelded, improved since, stylish Goodwood winner then excellent 2nd at Epsom in a Class 2.
- Last run at Goodwood (C3) excusable, caught in a hot race.
- On pedigree, AW fine (Magna Grecia progeny adapt).
- Up 6lb for Goodwood win but retains upside.
Advancing (OR 80, Draw 6) – Unexposed improver, 8/10
- Won maiden at Kempton (C&D).
- Promising return at Sandown in cheekpieces, ran on strongly from off pace.
- Expected to come forward fitness-wise, well suited to return here.
- Draw decent for a closer if tempo is solid.
Main Dangers
Muhaajim (OR 82, Draw 4) – Capable, 7/10
- Maiden winner at Pontefract (1m2f).
- Fair 4th in Sandown C4 Hc last time, but faded late.
- Pedigree suggests stamina (Sea The Stars x Rizeena).
- Needs to show more stamina/resolution to win from this mark.
Ferrari Gold (OR 80, Draw 2) – Dark filly, 7/10
- Only 3 runs, strong novice win at Chester.
- Slightly disappointing at Ripon but may not have been suited by track.
- From James Tate yard (86% rtf% in last fortnight).
- Receives fillies’ allowance, inside draw helps.
Interesting Outsiders
Sea The Light (OR 80, Draw 3) – 6/10
- Newcastle novice winner, but poor Sandown run latest.
- Still lightly raced, stamina OK, but needs to bounce back.
- Market check important.
St Mawes (OR 72, Draw 1) – 5/10
- Handicap debut was poor (beaten 29L at Sandown).
- Some maiden promise, but has to leave that last run behind.
- Well drawn but others look more likely.
Runner Scores
- Bulletin – 9/10 – proven, consistent, strong form in C3/4.
- Grecian Legacy – 8/10 – progressive, best form in race, but wide draw.
- Advancing – 8/10 – unexposed, back at C&D, should improve fitness.
- Muhaajim – 7/10 – needs to prove stamina, but not dismissed.
- Ferrari Gold – 7/10 – lightly raced filly, scopey, dangerous if improving.
- Sea The Light – 6/10 – potential but questions after latest.
- St Mawes – 5/10 – something to prove, low mark could help but risky.
Private Tissue (my view of fair odds)
- Bulletin 3/1
- Grecian Legacy 7/2
- Advancing 4/1
- Muhaajim 6/1
- Ferrari Gold 8/1
- Sea The Light 10/1
- St Mawes 16/1
Summary
Competitive C4 with several progressive 3yo’s. Bulletin brings the most solid handicap form, repeatedly running to mid-90 RPRs, and looks ready to score again. Grecian Legacy has a touch of class from C2 company and remains progressive, while Advancing is very much a live improver returning to his winning C&D.
Smart Play
- Win bet – Bulletin (solid handicapper, trip/track ideal, strong recent figures).
- Each-way saver – Advancing (unexposed, back at C&D, fitter for comeback).
Market moves on Ferrari Gold should be noted – if backed, she could be the one to surprise.
