Chasemore Farm EBF Maiden Stakes Review Friday at Sandown.

·

The Chasemore Farm EBF Maiden Stakes (7f, 2yo, soft) turned out to be a really strong contest. The winner Sticktoyourguns made a huge impression on debut, coming from last to first and showing a sharp turn of foot. Importantly, the race was run faster than par for the conditions, which makes the form even stronger.

The Racing Post gave the winner a Top Speed rating of 82 — an excellent figure for a 2-year-old on debut. Performances like that usually point to future black-type potential. He looks a colt who can step straight into Group company.

The runner-up The Joker did plenty in front and only gave best late on. He’ll be hard to beat in a maiden, especially on quicker ground.

Third-placed Accredit ran very green but still showed plenty of raw ability. Bred in the purple (by Dubawi out of a half-sister to Enable), he’s sure to improve with experience and will be suited by further in time.

Others to note included Mr Wonka, who shaped with promise, and Shadowmere, who has the stride but needs to learn his job.

Verdict: This was an above-average maiden. Sticktoyourguns looks a stakes horse in the making, Accredit is a long-term prospect, and The Joker will pick up a maiden soon.
