1.40 Athleague Maiden Hurdle

(1m7½f, Yielding, 4yo, Win: £5310, 16 runners)

TimeWise Master Top Two Rated

  1. Rakki (Total: 296)
  2. First Ascent (IRE) (Total: 231)

Recent Form and Comments

HorseRecent Form/Comments (Spotlight)
Rakki (4)Is 0-9 on the Flat and 0-3 over hurdles for Alan King, though his Flat form was useful. He finished third of 20 on debut for Willie Mullins when made favourite for a handicap hurdle at Galway. He is given a good chance.
First Ascent (IRE) (4)Was close up in 1m2f/1m5f maidens with a peak RPR of 79. He lost it at the start when well beaten in a Galway handicap in August. This jumps debutant, trained by a leading yard, has what it takes to make a hurdler.

Spotlight Verdict

Not only was RAKKI pretty decent on his day on the Flat for Alan King but it was an encouraging first run for the Mullins yard in a handicap hurdle at Galway. Hobart and Hopeful Hero have each-way claims, while First Ascent could easily have a role to play on his jumps debut and Jacko Star looks a nice prospect.

Race Statistics

  • Age Groups: The race is exclusively for 4yo horses. In previous comparable races, 4yo horses have secured 6 wins and 12 places from 88 runs (6-12-88).
  • Fate of Favourites: Favourites have a mixed record (3 winners, 1 failed to complete, 1 placed, 3 unplaced: 311F43).
  • Trainer Records (W-PL-R): Noel Meade (1-1-2), Gavin Cromwell (0-1-2), Gordon Elliott (0-2-8), Mark Michael McNiff (0-1-3).

Assessment of Top Two

HorseStrengthsWeaknessesSuitability/Chances
RakkiPossesses useful Flat form. Had an encouraging first run for the powerful W. Mullins yard, finishing third in a handicap hurdle.Still a maiden over hurdles and on the Flat.Has a good chance and is the selection in the Spotlight Verdict.
First Ascent (IRE)Comes from a leading yard (G. Elliott). Showed good ability on the Flat (peak RPR 79) and has the pedigree for hurdling.Lost form recently in a Flat handicap; is making his hurdling debut.Expected to have a role to play on his jumps debut.

2.15 Thomas A. Murray Bar Roscommon Handicap Hurdle

(1m7½f, Yielding, 4yo+, Win: £5575, 16 runners)

TimeWise Master Top Two Rated

  1. No Big Deal (IRE) (Total: 235)
  2. Shannon Bank (IRE) (Total: 233)

Recent Form and Comments

HorseRecent Form/Comments (Spotlight)
No Big Deal (IRE) (5)Is 0-16 under both codes but has arrived after competitive shows, finishing third at Wexford (2m1f, good) and runner-up on the Flat since (soft ground). One to bear in mind.
Shannon Bank (IRE) (6)Was beaten about 8l in her last two handicaps, run over 2m1f and 2m6f. The shorter trip of 1m7½f is a concern. (Note: This horse is listed as the second reserve in the race comments).

Spotlight Verdict

An open handicap for which the suggestion is NO BIG DEAL who arrives here after competitive shows under both codes. I’m Flattered beat a subsequent winner at Kilbeggan and may well have more to offer with her so lightly raced. Quinn The Eskimo could stage a revival now fitted with a tongue-tie.

Race Statistics

  • Age Groups: 4yo (0-1-16), 5yo (3-4-26), 6yo (1-6-28), 7yo (2-0-12), 8yo (1-6-16), 9yo (0-0-2), 10yo (0-1-4).
  • Fate of Favourites: Favourites have won 1 race and been unplaced in 3 others (1313310).
  • Trainer Records (W-PL-R): A J Martin (1-0-1), Paul Nolan (1-0-1), Gavin Cromwell (0-1-2), Mark Michael McNiff (0-1-2).

Assessment of Top Two

HorseStrengthsWeaknessesSuitability/Chances
No Big DealHas shown consistent competitive form under both codes recently. Highly regarded despite being a maiden.Has a career losing streak of 0-16.Suggested as the winning chance due to recent competitive performances.
Shannon BankHigh Total rating suggests latent ability in this company.Form has been weak recently (beaten 8l in last two runs). The drop back to 1m7½f is a concern given recent runs at longer distances.Uncertain chance due to trip concern and recent form, plus status as a reserve.

2.50 Kelly Hearing Specialists Mares Maiden Hurdle

(2m4f, Yielding, 4yo+, Win: £5310, 16 runners)

TimeWise Master Top Two Rated

  1. Dolce N’ Milana (IRE) (Total: 266)
  2. Music Of Life (IRE) (Total: 227)

Recent Form and Comments

HorseRecent Form/Comments (Spotlight)
Dolce N’ Milana (IRE) (5)Is a well-bred mare in top hands (W. Mullins). Has had a low-key start, beaten about 14l in maidens at Tramore and Kilbeggan. Could yet be capable of better.
Music Of Life (IRE) (5)Is 0-9. Her best run yet came on stable debut when she just missed out in a 2m2f handicap at Listowel. That performance came off a modest mark, and she might be vulnerable back in a maiden.

Spotlight Verdict

Not the best of maidens but an open one. Triple bumper winner WOODLAND ADVENTURE looks to have as good a chance as any and she’s preferred over Miss Jocund. Youre A Derry Girl has claims and the Mullins mare Dolce N’ Milana may yet raise her game.

Race Statistics

  • Age Groups: 4yo (1-0-11), 5yo (3-4-30), 6yo (0-2-14), 7yo (0-2-4), 8yo (0-0-1), 11yo (0-0-1).
  • Fate of Favourites: Favourites have won 2 races and been placed in 1 other (2112).
  • Trainer Records (W-PL-R): Gordon Elliott (1-1-6), Ciaran Murphy (0-1-3), Gerard Keane (0-1-2), Henry De Bromhead (0-1-1).

Assessment of Top Two

HorseStrengthsWeaknessesSuitability/Chances
Dolce N’ MilanaWell-bred and comes from the Willie Mullins stable. Highly rated by the TimeWise Master.Has been beaten significantly in her two maiden efforts thus far.Expected to potentially raise her game and is noted as a contender.
Music Of LifeRan her best race recently, narrowly losing a handicap at 2m2f.Is 0-9. Her recent good run was off a modest mark, making her vulnerable returning to maiden company.Likely to be vulnerable given the rise in grade and previous form profile.

3.25 Sweeney Oil Handicap Hurdle

(2m4f, Yielding, 4yo+, Win: £5310, 16 runners)

TimeWise Master Top Two Rated

  1. Nettuno Italia (IRE) (Total: 206)
  2. Live To Laugh (IRE) (Total: 204)

Recent Form and Comments

HorseRecent Form/Comments (Spotlight)
Nettuno Italia (IRE) (5)Left maiden form behind with solid efforts in his first two handicaps (4th of 23 and 5th of 17). He lacks a recent run but can go well if fit.
Live To Laugh (IRE) (6)Showed improved effort in his second handicap at Down Royal (3m, good to firm), finishing 4.5l behind an in-form rival. This run involves different ground (Yielding vs Gd-fm) and a shorter trip (2m4f vs 3m).

Spotlight Verdict

This won’t take much winning. The two most interesting ones are MELLEM and Nettuno Italia with narrow preference for the former in the hope that he is fit after a break. Live To Laugh has place claims if handling the drop in trip. Kilbrin Rocco is worth a market check on his first start for in form yard.

Race Statistics

  • Age Groups: Limited data provided for this specific race, but previous summaries show winners aged 5, 6, 8.
  • Fate of Favourites: Favourites have won 1 race.
  • Trainer Records (W-PL-R): Oliver McKiernan (1-0-1).

Assessment of Top Two

HorseStrengthsWeaknessesSuitability/Chances
Nettuno ItaliaDisplayed solid form in large-field handicaps earlier this year. Rated marginally highest.Lacks a run (off since April).Considered an interesting contender and expected to go well if fit enough after a break.
Live To LaughImproved markedly on his second handicap attempt.Must contend with different ground and a drop in distance from 3m to 2m4f.Has place claims if handling the drop in trip.

4.00 Image Furnishings Handicap Hurdle

(3m, Yielding, 4yo+, Win: £9824, 11 runners)

TimeWise Master Top Two Rated

  1. Birmingham Alabama (IRE) (Total: 317)
  2. Quantum Quest (IRE) (Total: 259)

Recent Form and Comments

HorseRecent Form/Comments (Spotlight)
Birmingham Alabama (IRE) (6)Gained her third win of 2025 at Bellewstown (20.5f, good); the form was subsequently boosted. She stays this 3m trip and is a solid, consistent mare.
Quantum Quest (IRE) (5)Got his head in front in a Kilbeggan maiden when stepping up to 3m1f. He makes his handicap debut now, with cheekpieces applied, but he probably needs to improve again.

Spotlight Verdict

Henry De Bromhead’s handicap debutant Quantum Quest will be popular on handicap debut but BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA (nap) is a solid, consistent mare and she may be able to defy a 7lb rise for her Bellewstown win. Ballyglass Beauty can go well if settling better and Its Not Over Yet is another live danger.

Race Statistics

  • Age Groups: 4yo (0-0-1), 5yo (1-1-6), 6yo (2-2-16), 7yo (0-5-12), 8yo (0-0-10), 9yo (2-0-3), 10yo (0-0-3), 11yo (0-1-5), 12yo (0-1-1), 13yo (0-0-1), 15yo (0-0-1).
  • Fate of Favourites: Favourites have failed to win on the last 5 occasions (53220).
  • Trainer Records (W-PL-R): Oliver McKiernan (1-0-1).

Assessment of Top Two

HorseStrengthsWeaknessesSuitability/Chances
Birmingham AlabamaSolid and consistent mare. Recently achieved her third win of the year, stays the trip, and has boosted form.Must overcome a 7lb rise in weight.Selected as the nap, expected to defy the penalty.
Quantum QuestRecent maiden winner over 3m1f. Expected to be popular on handicap debut.Needs to find improvement to win in handicap company, especially after getting weight from the runner-up in his maiden. Is a strong contender but likely relies on continued progression.

4.35 Ballymore Grp Irish EBF Kilbegnet Novice Chase (Grade 3)

(2m½f, Yielding, 4yo+, Win: £21239, 6 runners)

TimeWise Master Top Two Rated

  1. Westport Cove (FR) (Total: 380)
  2. King Of Kingsfield (IRE) (Total: 327)

Recent Form and Comments

HorseRecent Form/Comments (Spotlight)
Westport Cove (FR) (7)Was a smart hurdler but is already a better chaser. He was runner-up (from the front) in a Grade 3 at Galway and holds standout claims.
King Of Kingsfield (IRE) (7)Was the best of these over hurdles. He is now 2-3 over fences after an easy win at Ballinrobe (2m1f, good). His chase career looks to be on an upward trajectory.

Spotlight Verdict

This should be a match-off between King Of Kingsfield and Westport Cove. The selection is KING OF KINGSFIELD, who was the pick of the pair over hurdles and his chase career looks on an upward trajectory, although he must give his market rival 4lb.

Race Statistics

  • Age Groups: 4yo (1-1-3), 5yo (0-1-8), 6yo (3-3-21), 7yo (3-2-12), 8yo (2-2-8), 9yo (0-0-1), 10yo (0-0-2).
  • Fate of Favourites: Favourites have won 2 races and placed in 3 others, but have also failed on 4 occasions (21213321P).
  • Trainer Records (W-PL-R): Henry De Bromhead (2-2-9), Gordon Elliott (1-1-3), W P Mullins (1-1-5).

Assessment of Top Two

HorseStrengthsWeaknessesSuitability/Chances
Westport CoveProven Grade 3 form (runner-up). Already a better chaser than hurdler. Standout claims based on chase form.Concedes 4lb to King Of Kingsfield.Expected to be a primary contender in this match-off.
King Of KingsfieldWas superior over hurdles. Has a strong upward trajectory over fences (2 wins from 3 runs).Must concede 4lb to Westport Cove.Selected by Spotlight as the likely winner due to progression, despite the weight concession.

5.10 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Handicap Chase

(2m5½f, Yielding, 4yo+, Win: £9824, 9 runners)

TimeWise Master Top Two Rated

  1. Cobra Queen (Total: 254)
  2. Juniper Hill (IRE) (Total: 247)

Recent Form and Comments

HorseRecent Form/Comments (Spotlight)
Cobra Queen (6)Dual hurdle winner and winning pointer who was always likely to improve over fences. Jumped well when winning a beginners’ chase at Tramore (2m6f) and the useful RPR suggests her current mark will be fine.
Juniper Hill (IRE) (6)Won her chase debut at Downpatrick (2m7f beginners’), beating Betty Dutton. Had a puzzling effort in her last handicap. She is considered with the 7lb claiming jockey.

Spotlight Verdict

Henry De Bromhead’s COBRA QUEEN jumped particularly well when winning at Tramore and this mark shouldn’t be beyond her. Howya Luveen did well to win over so short a trip last time and will go well provided she avoids the ‘bounce’ on her second run back. Juniper Hill and Betty Dutton both enter the equation.

Race Statistics

  • Age Groups: 5yo (0-0-1), 6yo (0-1-7), 7yo (1-2-4), 8yo (0-0-3), 9yo (1-0-1), 10yo (0-0-1).
  • Fate of Favourites: Favourites have failed to win in the last two recorded instances (P3).
  • Trainer Records (W-PL-R): John Patrick Ryan (1-0-2), Henry De Bromhead (0-1-2).

Assessment of Top Two

HorseStrengthsWeaknessesSuitability/Chances
Cobra QueenStrong chase form after a beginners’ win, suggesting this handicap mark is workable. Good jumper.None explicitly mentioned regarding fitness or ground.Selected as the preferred winner by Spotlight.
Juniper HillWinning chase debut form (beat a respected rival). Claiming jockey Eoin Staples (7) is a positive.Had a “puzzling effort” in her last handicap start.Enters the equation if she performs back to her chase debut level.

5.45 Connollys RED MILLS Flat Race

(1m7½f, Yielding, 5yo+, Win: £5310, 11 runners)

TimeWise Master Top Two Rated

  1. Shadys Lady (IRE) (Total: 249)
  2. Ozark’s Walk (IRE) (Total: 206)

Recent Form and Comments

HorseRecent Form/Comments (Spotlight)
Shadys Lady (IRE) (7)Produced a fine effort on her return from a long layoff when runner-up to the subsequent Grade 1 placed Switch From Diesel at Naas in March (2m, soft). On that form, she is the one to beat.
Ozark’s Walk (IRE) (5)Has been runner up in two of four starts in bumpers, including when narrowly denied at Kilbeggan last month (2m, good to yielding). Should go well again.

Spotlight Verdict

Both Onlyforfrankie and Ozark’s Walk should be up to winning races in this sphere but it is hard to get away from the form claims of SHADYS LADY (nap) who got to within 1.5l of the subsequent Grade 1 placed Switch From Diesel at Naas in March. A repeat of that should suffice. Minnatrix appeals most of the newcomers.

Race Statistics

Note: The sources do not contain comprehensive race statistics (Age Groups, Fate of Favourites, Trainer Records) specifically for the 5.45 Roscommon race.

Assessment of Top Two

HorseStrengthsWeaknessesSuitability/Chances
Shadys LadyHas the best form claim (runner-up to subsequent Grade 1 placed horse).Lacks a recent run (off since March).Selected as the nap; a repeat of her best form should secure the win.
Ozark’s WalkConsistent performer in bumpers, having been narrowly denied recently. Expected to go well.Previous form is marginally inferior to Shadys Lady’s peak performance.Expected to be competitive and is certainly capable of winning races in this sphere.
