Runner-by-Runner Analysis

Here’s a look at each of the declared runners:

1. Coeur d’Or

  • Weight: 10-0 | Official Rating (OR): 95 | Draw: 3
  • Trainer: D K Weld | Jockey: Chris Hayes
  • A seasoned 9-year-old who has shown a return to form in his last two starts, finishing a close second at Punchestown and a strong fourth in the competitive Irish Cambridgeshire over one mile here. The application of a visor seems to have revitalised him. However, he carries top weight, hasn’t won in two years, and his form over this specific 1m 2f trip is unconvincing (0 wins from 4 attempts).

2. War Rooms

  • Weight: 9-11 | OR: 92 | Draw: 4
  • Trainer: Gerard Keane | Jockey: TBC
  • Showed high-class form as a three-year-old, notably finishing third in the Group 2 Dante Stakes. His form in 2025 has been quite disappointing, weakening in his last few starts over longer distances. He has been gelded since last season, which can sometimes bring about improvement, but he needs to bounce back significantly to feature here.

3. In My Teens

  • Weight: 9-10 | OR: 95 | Draw: 8
  • Trainer: Gavin Cromwell | Jockey: Dylan Browne McMonagle
  • A highly progressive three-year-old filly who receives a 4lb age allowance. She was an impressive 6½ length winner of her maiden over this trip at Down Royal. She then backed that up with a game second on soft ground at Roscommon. She is very unexposed after only three career starts and could be much better than her handicap mark suggests. Her trainer is in excellent form.

4. Bear Profit

  • Weight: 9-9 | OR: 90 | Draw: 6
  • Trainer: Gerard O’Leary | Jockey: TBC
  • A consistent and tough handicapper who ran a career-best when finishing second in a valuable handicap at the Galway Festival. He has solid form at this course and over this distance. However, he was a little disappointing on his latest run here last month and may be in the handicapper’s grip off his current rating.

5. Grey Leader

  • Weight: 9-7 | OR: 88 | Draw: 2
  • Trainer: Joseph G Murphy | Jockey: W J Lee
  • Comes into this race in peak condition, representing a trainer in flying form. He bounced back with a comfortable win at Tipperary last time out on heavy ground. The main concerns are a 6lb rise in the weights for that win and his poor record at the Curragh (0 places from 3 runs).

6. Isambard Brunel

  • Weight: 9-7 | OR: 92 | Draw: 1
  • Trainer: A P O’Brien | Jockey: TBC
  • A well-bred colt from a top stable who won his maiden easily as a two-year-old. He has the potential to be anything but was extremely disappointing on his only start this year at Chester in May, finishing last and beaten by 27 lengths. He returns from a 161-day absence, making him a risky proposition.

7. Retracement

  • Weight: 9-1 | OR: 82 | Draw: 5
  • Trainer: J P Murtagh | Jockey: Ben Coen
  • Represents another in-form stable and ran an eye-catching race over this course and distance last time. He finished strongly from the rear to take fourth in a large field, suggesting he is poised to win soon. He is only 3lb higher in the handicap for that effort and looks like a major contender with a low weight.

8. Fiver Friday

  • Weight: 8-12 | OR: 79 | Draw: 7
  • Trainer: Gavin Cromwell | Jockey: Robert Whearty
  • Carries the lowest weight in the field and has won over this trip before. However, her recent form on the flat has been poor, and she appears to have lost her way since a productive 2024 season. She would need a significant revival to get involved.

Verdict

This is a competitive handicap where the unexposed, progressive types make the most appeal.

1st: In My Teens The three-year-old filly looks to have significant potential. Her impressive maiden win was followed by a solid effort on soft ground, and as a lightly-raced type from an in-form stable, she could easily prove a class above this field.

2nd: Retracement His run here last time was full of promise. He finished very strongly over this course and distance, indicating that his turn is near. With a low weight and a top jockey, he is the biggest danger.

3rd: Coeur d’Or The veteran is in good heart and the visor seems to have worked wonders. Despite his age and top weight, his consistency and class can see him run into a place.

4th: Bear Profit A reliable handicapper with proven form under these conditions. If he can bounce back from a slightly below-par run last time, he is more than capable of finishing in the money.
