3.17 Ludlow – 1985 Lager Handicap Chase (3m, Class 5, Soft)🏇⤵️👇

·

This is a proper staying handicap on soft ground: 3 miles, 19 fences, and not much prize money. That usually means one thing – the winner is the one who jumps, stays, and keeps out of trouble. Forget fancy narratives. This is about reliability.
What the track asks
Ludlow is right-handed and can punish sloppy jumpers, especially when the ground is soft and the race turns into a grind from the back straight. In this grade, plenty don’t finish their races. So the key angle is simple: back the horse most likely to give you a clean round and be in the first four turning for home.
The market has it right: Everyonesacritic
Everyonesacritic (7/4) is favourite for a reason and he’s the one most likely to do the job. He tops the TimeWise totals on your sheet and the profile is exactly what you want here:
Right-handed record is strong – this matters at Ludlow.
He’s a Class 5 operator who turns up, races handily, and keeps finding.
He comes here off a recent win in the mud, which is the best possible preparation for this.
In short: he’s the most dependable jumper in the race with the most straightforward route to victory.
The main danger: Anytrixwilldo
Anytrixwilldo (7/2) is the obvious threat because he has a solid Ludlow 3m run in the book when second. The problem is he’s not a smooth watch. He’s been jumping right, making errors, and has a fall in recent form. If he gets into a rhythm, he can win. If he doesn’t, he’ll find a way to lose.
He’s the sort you respect, but you don’t want to hang your whole bet on him.
Kits Coty: capable, but not ideal
Kits Coty (11/2) has course form and has shown ability around Ludlow, but she’s got 12-0 on soft and this is more of a slog than a speed test. If this was better ground, you’d be more interested. As it is, she needs things to fall right.
The rest: too many doubts
Haut Folin has enough ability on old form, but the recent string of pull-ups and non-completions says you can’t trust him in a staying chase on soft.
Martalmix’jac has a feather weight and could nick a place, but he’s unreliable and comes with “ran in snatches” comments.
Sandscape, Yes And Yes, Est Illic all need a leap of faith and that’s not how you play Class 5 staying chases.
The bet
Keep it simple.
Selection: Everyonesacritic (win).
He’s the one most likely to jump round, travel into it, and outstay them when it turns into a test. In this type of race, that’s the whole game.
