Taunton 3.26 — Weatherbysshop.co.uk Handicap Hurdle (3m½f, Soft)🏇⤵️👇

·

Six runners, soft ground, proper staying trip. This won’t be won by a flashy turn of foot — it’ll be won by the horse that travels, jumps well enough, and keeps galloping when the others start reaching.
The race set-up
With a small field, position matters. If they crawl, it turns tactical and the best-placed horse gets first run. If they go a fair clip on soft, it becomes a stamina test and any scrappy jumping gets punished.
The shortlist
Inferno Sacree looks the most solid. He’s been banging on the door and his recent seconds show he’s in the right groove for this level. He stays, he competes, and he keeps finding. The one obvious worry is his jumping — he doesn’t always do it cleanly — but in a race like this, a competent round is usually enough.
Jatiluwih is the danger on numbers and profile. Your ratings like him, and his class record suggests he’s well capable of bossing a Class 4. The catch is plain: he’s twelve, giving weight away, and there’s a recent unseat in the mix. He can win, but he’s not the type you trust blindly in a soft-ground slog.
Snapdance is the pace angle. He’s the one most likely to control the race, and Taunton can reward that, especially in a six-runner affair. The downside is he’s been more “nearly” than “now”, and if he gets taken on at the wrong time, he can be found wanting late.
Malago Rose is consistent but looks priced on reliability rather than winning habit. She’s often thereabouts without finishing the job, and at this trip on soft you want certainty, not hope.
Handin Manypockets is the unknown. Lightly raced, potential upside, but he’s on a big weight and still has to prove he can deliver under staying handicap pressure.
Bobbi With An I has ability, but recent efforts suggest she can fold when the heat is turned up. This trip on soft asks a serious question.
Verdict
This is a race for the fit, battle-hardened stayer rather than the romantic punt. For me, it comes down to who you trust most to put in a clean enough round and finish the job.
Selection: Inferno Sacree — the most reliable recent stayer in the field and the one least likely to throw it away.
Main danger: Jatiluwih — rated to win it, but comes with age, weight and risk attached.
If it turns tactical: Snapdance — dangerous if allowed to dictate.
