Wolverhampton 7.00 – Class 6 Classified (6f)🏇⤵️👇

·

Nine runners, all rated 50 or below, and very little between them on bare figures. These races are usually decided by track position and who handles the run-in best rather than any hidden class edge.
Pace and set-up
The pace looks fair rather than strong. Over 6f at Wolverhampton that tends to favour horses who can hold a handy position without doing too much early. Hold-up types often need luck.
The market leader – Classy Clarets (15/8)
Classy Clarets comes here off a solid C&D second last week and that is the most obvious piece of recent form in the field. On ratings, a repeat of that run makes him the one to beat.
The concern is temperament and draw. He can race freely and is berthed wide in stall 8. At 15/8 you are paying for the most recent good effort without much margin for error. In this grade, that matters.
The main alternative – East Tyrone (4/1)
East Tyrone is drawn 3, which is ideal. He has winning form at the track and his better runs at 6f give him a realistic chance in this company.
The risk is his tendency to be slowly away. Over 6f here that can leave him with too much to do. If he breaks on terms, he has the profile of a Class 6 winner. At 4/1 he makes more betting sense than the favourite.
Solid each-way claims – She Went Whoosh (10/1)
She Went Whoosh has recent C&D form in similar company and is generally straightforward. She does not win often but she runs to a level that keeps her competitive in these races.
At double-figure odds she looks a fair each-way option in a race lacking depth.
Others
Port Hedland (9/2) has bits of form that would put him in the mix but arrives off a poor return and needs to bounce back.
Mister McGregor (15/2) and Auntie Jo (9/1) have plenty of placed efforts but limited evidence they can dominate even in this grade.
Sultan Of Oj (11/1) is inconsistent and still a maiden after multiple chances.
Lil Wade (40/1) and Musaytir have long-standing profiles that are hard to support.
Verdict
This is a weak Class 6 and unlikely to take much winning. Classy Clarets is the most likely winner on his latest run, but at the prices the better proposition is East Tyrone, provided he breaks cleanly.
For those playing each-way, She Went Whoosh makes most appeal at the odds.
