6.30 Newcastle – Flowstate the One to Beat🏇⤵️👇

·

A small but competitive Class 5 handicap over seven furlongs at Newcastle, and the data points firmly toward one horse. The HRB ratings, course form and recent performances all line up strongly in favour of Flowstate, who looks the most solid proposition in the field.
From a ratings perspective he is clear. His HRB total of 299.1 puts him well ahead of the rest, with the next best Tasever on 269.5. In races of this level, a gap of that size matters. It suggests he is running consistently to a level the others struggle to reach.
More importantly, he is a Newcastle specialist. His record over this course and distance reads three wins from four runs, including two victories here in February. Those wins were not narrow escapes either – he travelled well and finished his races strongly, showing he handles the Tapeta and the long straight perfectly.
His most recent run at Southwell looks better than the bare result. Finishing fourth, he was short of room at a key stage and never got the clear run needed to challenge properly. That effort still confirmed he remains in good form and a return to Newcastle should suit him far better.
Tasever is the obvious danger on ratings and track record. He is another horse who thrives at Newcastle, with six career wins here. However, the latest clash between the pair tells its own story. Flowstate beat him comfortably over this course and distance last month, with Tasever finishing sixth. Unless something changes tactically, it is difficult to see that form reversing.
Beauty Choice is worth a mention. The veteran has slipped below his last winning mark and shaped better than the result when fourth at Wolverhampton in January after meeting trouble in running. If building on that effort he could get involved, but he does rely on the race setting up for him.
Blazing Son also returns to a workable mark and has previous course success, yet recent performances leave him with something to prove.
The pace angle adds another small positive for the favourite. Hold-up runners tend to fare well over seven furlongs at Newcastle, and Flowstate’s running style fits that pattern. With the long straight giving him time to wind up, he should get the race run to suit.
In truth, this race looks fairly straightforward. The favourite is the best horse on the ratings, proven at the track, and arrives in form. In races like this the simple answer is often the right one.
Verdict: Flowstate to resume winning ways at a track where he clearly excels.
