Chepstow 4.30 – Falco Des Pins Holds the Tactical Edge🏇⤵️👇

·

This small-field novice handicap chase at Chepstow looks likely to be decided by race position rather than raw ability. With only five runners declared and very little confirmed pace in the field, the tactical map becomes the most important factor.
HRB’s race shape analysis points to Falco Des Pins as the sole front runner, with only moderate pressure expected early. In a race where the pace forecast is weak, that is a major advantage. Around Chepstow on soft ground, a horse allowed to dictate can quickly put rivals under pressure, especially if jumping accurately.
Falco Des Pins arrives here in excellent recent form, having won at Ludlow before following up comfortably at Leicester. Those victories came once the handicapper had relented, and his current mark of 102 still looks workable based on the level he showed earlier in his career in France. More importantly, his jumping has improved sharply, which is often the key ingredient for Venetia Williams’ chasers once they hit form.
If Charlie Deutsch is able to control the tempo from the front, the race could turn into a test of who can go with him turning for home rather than a true stamina contest.
Blacksamssenorita is probably the most interesting danger. She looked a natural chaser when winning on her debut over fences at Uttoxeter and her subsequent pull-up at Wincanton is easy enough to forgive. Joe Tizzard’s runners are always respected in races like this and she could be the one staying on best if the leader falters.
Milan Tino has some ability and should be positioned fairly close to the pace, but his recent efforts suggest he is high enough in the handicap for now. Meanwhile Black Hawk Eagle and The Winslow Boy are likely to be played late, which is not ideal in what could develop into a steadily run race.
In truth, the shape of the contest looks straightforward. A soft-ground track, a small field, and a clear pace angle often points to the same outcome.
If Falco Des Pins jumps with the same fluency shown on his last two starts, he should be able to control matters from the front and complete the hat-trick.
Selection: Falco Des Pins
Is the selection bombproof? Medium-Strong. The pace advantage makes him the most likely winner, but quick turnaround and small-field tactics prevent maximum confidence.
