2.45 Plumpton – Southern Cranes & Access Ltd Handicap Chase (2m1f, Class 4)🏇⤵️👇

·

A small but interesting five-runner handicap chase at Plumpton where the likely pace scenario could decide the outcome.
Plumpton is a sharp, left-handed track that rewards rhythm and accurate jumping. In small fields like this, tactical positioning often becomes more important than raw ability, and the early lead looks set to be contested.
Two runners stand out as potential pace angles: Alto Alto and Delpotro. Both have shown a tendency to go forward and neither is especially strong at the finish when forced to work too hard early. If they take each other on, the race could set up for a horse sitting just behind the speed.
That scenario brings Kool Kid firmly into the picture. Joe Tizzard’s six-year-old arrives here in good order after scoring last time and his recent profile suggests he is still progressing over fences. He typically races just off the leaders and has shown the ability to stay on strongly late, which could be the ideal style if the front pair go a shade too hard.
Park Annonciade looks the most solid danger. His overall form suggests he is competitive off this mark and he has the tactical versatility to sit close to the pace without forcing it. The slight concern is consistency, but if reproducing his better efforts he is capable of getting involved.
Alto Alto is respected mainly because of his course-and-distance credentials. Plumpton specialists are always worth noting and he clearly handles the track well. The issue is the likely pressure for the lead. If he is forced to go too quick early, his finishing effort may again come under strain.
Delpotro returns from a break and has the ability to travel strongly in his races, but his tendency to weaken late when prominent raises doubts in a race where the early tempo may be honest.
The outsider Angels Dream is difficult to recommend on current form. Although trained by a yard that does well at Plumpton, his recent performances suggest he has plenty to prove against rivals arriving in better order.
Overall, this looks a race where race position and recent momentum favour Kool Kid. If the predicted pace battle unfolds, he may be the runner best placed to pick up the pieces late on.
