4.15 Plumpton – Weatherbys NHstallions.co.uk Handicap Chase (3m2f, Class 5)🏇⤵️👇

·

A small but competitive staying handicap chase at Plumpton where positioning and stamina are likely to decide the outcome. The tight left-handed track often favours horses that can race prominently and jump fluently, though over this extended 3m2f trip the race can turn into a proper stamina test if the tempo lifts down the back straight for the final time.
The early pace looks straightforward. Ferret Jeeter is the most likely leader and could have the run of the race if allowed to dictate. Several runners prefer to sit just behind the pace, notably Imperial Pride, Illogical Logic and School For Scandal, while the stronger finishers such as West Orchard may be ridden with patience before trying to pick them off late. With a few horses wanting a handy position there is a reasonable chance the pace becomes honest rather than tactical.
West Orchard brings one of the most consistent profiles in the field. He has been running well in similar company and shaped like a horse still in good form when runner-up last time. His finishing effort is a notable asset in a race where a few rivals have shown a tendency to weaken late. The main question is tactical positioning in a seven-runner field, but if he is kept within striking distance he has solid claims.
Imperial Pride arrives off the back of a recent win and looks attractively treated if able to reproduce that effort. She travelled well and finished strongly on that occasion and the quick return to the track could be a positive given how well she shaped. If she holds a handy position behind the leader she should again be involved at the business end.
Top weight Ferret Jeeter is respected. He is a course winner and his recent form figures suggest he is holding his level well. The possibility of an uncontested lead gives him a clear tactical angle, though he does have to concede weight to several rivals and can occasionally prove vulnerable late in his races.
Illogical Logic is another with a solid staying profile and has been running consistently without quite getting his head in front. He tends to keep finding late on and should be competitive again if the race is run at a proper gallop, though his profile suggests he may again find one or two too strong.
The remainder appear to have more to prove. Inedit De Mee wears first-time cheekpieces and a tongue tie in an attempt to spark improvement after a series of modest efforts, while School For Scandal and Ballygelly arrive with patchy recent form and would need a revival to play a major role.
Overall this looks a race where the balance of form and finishing strength points towards West Orchard, with Imperial Pride the main threat if building on her latest success. Ferret Jeeter’s potential control of the pace keeps him firmly in the picture, but he may need everything to fall perfectly from the front.
