Plumpton 3.15 – Risk It All sets the standard in tactical novice handicap🏇⤵️👇

·

The 3.15 at Plumpton on Monday is a Class 5 novices’ handicap hurdle over 2m and the race looks likely to be run at a steady to moderate tempo. There are no habitual front runners in the field and several of these tend to sit prominently just behind the leader, which often proves an effective position around Plumpton’s tight turns.
On good to soft ground, track position will matter. Horses that can travel comfortably in the first three or four are likely to have an advantage, while deeper hold-up performers may need things to fall their way turning for home.
Risk It All the one to beat
Risk It All arrives with the most solid profile in the field. Gary Moore’s five-year-old has been running consistently well in similar novice handicaps and his latest runner-up effort reads well at this level. He shapes like a horse still progressing and the way he finishes his races suggests this track and trip should suit.
The Moore yard is always dangerous at Plumpton and with a capable conditional taking weight off, Risk It All sets the standard on both form and ratings.
Kingston Bresil a major danger
Kingston Bresil sits near the top of the adjusted ratings and has been running steadily in similar company. He often does his best work late, which can be effective if the race is run honestly, although the lack of a confirmed front runner does create a slight tactical concern.
If the pace lifts at any stage he is likely to be finishing strongly and is the main threat to the favourite.
Charles Morin could get the run of the race
Charles Morin has been knocking on the door in recent handicaps and his prominent racing style could be a significant advantage here. In a race lacking obvious pace, he may find himself ideally positioned turning for home.
While he may not have the raw upside of the principals, his consistency and likely race position make him a solid each-way contender.
Kill The Groove tries new headgear
Kill The Groove has been competitive in similar races but often shapes as though something is missing late on. First-time cheekpieces and a tongue-tie could sharpen her up, though she will need to find a little extra to trouble the principals.
Others have questions to answer
Jacquetta is one of the more interesting outsiders from the Moore yard and remains unexposed, but his form so far leaves him with something to prove. Foinix is a strong finisher on his day but recent efforts have been underwhelming, while Major Major, My Lovely Horse and Somkiyr all look vulnerable on current evidence.
Verdict
In a race where tactical positioning could prove decisive, Risk It All brings the most convincing combination of recent form, consistency and potential for further improvement. If he runs to his recent level he should prove hard to beat.
Kingston Bresil looks the main danger if the race develops strongly enough for his finishing kick, while Charles Morin may outrun his odds if able to secure a good early position.
Selection: Risk It All
Main danger: Kingston Bresil
Each-way angle: Charles Morin
