This seven-runner novice doesn’t offer much depth and the data points strongly towards one horse.
On the HRB ratings Nobody Knows (IRE) dominates the field with a 409 total, which is a huge margin over the next best Sintra on 299. In races at this level, gaps of that size usually matter. He already has a solid figure on the board with a 103.5 last run rating, and none of his rivals have shown anything close to that yet.
The race shape analysis adds another piece to the puzzle. There is no obvious front runner and the projected early pace is weak. That usually leads to a tactical race where positioning and class become key. Nobody Knows profiles as a patient/stalking type, which should allow him to sit just behind the pace before using his proven ability late on.
Sintra is the obvious danger. He represents the Balding yard and is a well-bred Kingman colt for Juddmonte, so improvement is very likely. His run style suggests he may sit closer to the pace, which could be useful if the race turns into a sprint. However, on what we’ve seen so far he still has around 40 points to find on the ratings.
Of the newcomers, Mick The Hat from the Beckett stable is interesting on paper, but debutants often struggle when a rival has already posted a strong winning figure.
The rest of the field look up against it on both numbers and profile.
In short, this looks a fairly straightforward novice. The ratings leader has already produced the best piece of form in the race and the likely pace setup should suit him perfectly.
