8.00 Kempton – Straightforward Verdict🏇⤵️👇

·

This is a typical Kempton Class 5 handicap where the race shape matters more than raw ratings.
Two front runners, Tetsworth and Ice Opera, are drawn wide and likely to force the pace. That’s a problem. Around Kempton over 1m3f, wide-drawn leaders often have to work too hard early just to get across, and in doing so, they set the race up for something sitting off the speed.
That brings the focus firmly onto the low-drawn hold-up horses.
Seraphic stands out on that front. He’s a proven strong finisher, and in a race where the pace looks honest rather than steady, that is a major asset. His recent profile suggests he’s been shaping as though this sort of setup will suit, and from stall 3 he should get a smooth, economical run before being delivered late.
Imperial Decision is the other one that makes plenty of appeal. Drawn in stall 1, consistent, and still progressing, he ticks a lot of boxes. The concern is simply whether he has the same turn of foot as Seraphic when it matters.
Joseph comes here off a win and could get first run from a prominent position, but there’s a suspicion he may be vulnerable late if the pace is as strong as expected.
The rest look either exposed, poorly drawn for their run style, or reliant on things falling perfectly.
Verdict:
This looks set up for a closer, and Seraphic is the one most likely to benefit.
Winner: Seraphic
Main danger: Imperial Decision
