This is a low-grade staying chase where the shape of the race matters more than raw ratings. On paper, Kapamazov is the likely front runner, but he’s not a strong one and there’s enough pressure behind him to suggest he won’t get things his own way. That immediately brings the strong finishers into play.
Kitsilano and Kingcormac stand out for that reason. Both arrive in consistent form, both stay the trip well, and both have profiles that suggest they’ll be finishing stronger than most of these. In a race where others tend to weaken, that’s a major edge.
Kingcormac has the benefit of course-and-distance form and is very reliable at this level. You know what you’ll get: held up, ridden to finish, and staying on. The concern is tactical – in a small field, hold-up types can get caught out if the race doesn’t unfold cleanly.
Kitsilano is slightly more appealing. He’s just as solid but a bit more tactically flexible, usually sitting closer to the pace before finishing strongly. That gives him fewer excuses in a race like this, and his recent form suggests he’s still holding his level well.
Kapamazov is the obvious danger if allowed to dictate, but he’s not convincing under pressure and has an inconsistent profile. If he’s taken on or forced to go quicker than ideal, he’s vulnerable late on.
The rest look limited. Ballyfinn has ability but doesn’t finish his races. Zacony Rebel and the others would need things to fall apart completely.
Verdict:
This should be set up for a finisher rather than a front-runner. Kitsilano looks the most solid option tactically and is taken to get the better of Kingcormac, who will be staying on late but may just leave himself a bit too much to do.
Winner: Kitsilano
