With only five runners, this has a tactical feel. Queen Sana is the obvious pace angle and could well get an uncontested lead. In races like this at Kempton over 6f, that can be a major advantage — especially with a low collapse risk and very little pressure on paper. If she breaks cleanly and controls things, she will take catching.
That said, the draw introduces a key counter. Archers Grace (stall 1) and Moonshine (stall 2) are ideally placed to sit close to the pace or even take it up if Queen Sana is slow away. Around here, that inside positioning is often decisive.
Moonshine sets the standard on form. She’s consistent, holds the best rating, and shapes like a filly ready to win. The issue is tactical — she’s a strong finisher in a race that may not be run to suit. If they dawdle early, she risks giving first run away.
Archers Grace is the interesting one. She ran well on debut and comes from a yard that typically improves them plenty second time out. From stall 1, she should get a perfect stalking position and has more upside than most in this field. In a race where improvement is likely to be key, she makes plenty of appeal.
Queen Sana will make this a test of tactics, but her form suggests she’s vulnerable if anything with a turn of foot gets first run on her.
The wildcard is Thai Princess. Balding and Murphy is a combination to respect, but debutantes in tactical five-runner races often find things happening too quickly. The market will tell you more.
Verdict:
This looks set up for a filly who can sit handy and improve past exposed form. Archers Grace fits that profile best — good draw, scope to progress, and likely to get the run of the race.
Winner: Archers Grace
Main danger: Moonshine
The 4.55 at Kempton is a small-field fillies’ novice that will be decided less by raw ability and more by positioning and timing.🏇⤵️👇
