This looks a proper staying test on paper, but the key to the race isn’t just stamina — it’s the pace setup. The data points strongly towards a genuinely run contest with at least two forward-going types likely to take each other on early. That immediately raises the possibility of a late collapse, especially over this trip on ground that will take some getting.
Hollygrove Cha Cha and Listentoyourheart are the obvious pace angles. Both like to get on with things, but neither is guaranteed a soft lead here. Hollygrove Cha Cha brings the best official rating into the race and arrives off the back of a win, but this is a very different scenario. If she’s forced to go harder than ideal early, her chance diminishes late on. Listentoyourheart is even more vulnerable in that respect — she has shown promise, but her tendency to weaken under pressure is a concern in a race likely to be run at a strong gallop.
That shifts the focus firmly onto those who can sit off the speed and finish.
World Of Fortunes makes the most appeal in that regard. Her recent second in a Grade 3 reads very well in this company, and the return to a longer trip looks a plus. She’s tactically straightforward, stays well, and doesn’t rely on things falling perfectly. In a race where others may be taken out of their comfort zone early, she looks the most solid option.
There are also a couple of progressive types who could easily step forward again. Star Walking fits the race shape well and comes here off a win, shaping like a mare who is still improving over staying trips. She will likely be ridden patiently, which brings its own risks, but if the leaders overdo it, she’ll be finishing stronger than most.
Tankardstown Diva is another on the upgrade. She’s been winning races and has shown she can see her races out strongly. This is a step up in class, but her profile suggests there could still be more to come, and she shouldn’t be dismissed.
At bigger prices, Rockola Vogue stands out as the one most likely to capitalise if the race falls apart late. She’s a habitual hold-up performer with a strong finishing effort, and while that run style isn’t always ideal, today’s setup could play directly to her strengths.
Overall, this looks set up for something ridden with patience. The pace should be honest, possibly even too honest, and that makes it a race where positioning and timing will be crucial.
World Of Fortunes sets the standard on form and looks the safest play, but the value may lie slightly deeper, with strong-travelling closers like Star Walking and Rockola Vogue likely to be finishing best of all if the race unfolds as expected.
