7.15 Dundalk – Winter Series Champion Jockey Handicap (1m)🏇⤵️👇

·

This looks a typical Dundalk mile handicap on the surface, but the pace map changes everything.
There’s a clear standout in the shape: Ocean Manifest is the only confirmed front runner. In a race full of hold-up and mid-division types, that immediately puts him at an advantage. Dundalk doesn’t always hand races to leaders, but a soft or even uncontested lead over this trip is a serious weapon.
Behind him, it’s stacked with strong finishers. Horses like Ben Lawers, Ohailbhic, Daler and Una Matata all do their best work late. That creates a tactical tension — if they go too steady, they could leave themselves with too much to do.
The Solid Form Horses
Ben Lawers is the obvious starting point. A last-time-out winner over course and distance, he’s progressive and reliable. The profile is strong, but he’s now on a higher mark and doesn’t have much in hand. He’ll be thereabouts, but he’s not thrown in.
Ohailbhic appeals more from a handicapping angle. Also arriving off a win, he’s better treated at the weights and drawn perfectly to get a smooth run. He’s improving and still looks fairly handicapped — the type that wins races like this.
Neo Smart falls into a similar category. Consistent, in form, and from a yard that knows how to place them. The concern is he may be one of several closers all trying to come through at the same time.
The Tactical Wildcard
Ocean Manifest is the interesting one. Blinkers on, likely to lead, and potentially able to control the tempo. If he gets an easy time of it, he could pinch this before the closers get involved.
In races like this, you don’t ignore a lone front runner — especially not at Dundalk.
The Late Threats
Una Matata is in top form and keeps progressing, but the wide draw makes life harder. She’ll need things to fall right.
Daler is unexposed and could easily be better than his mark, but he’s returning from a break and will likely be played late. That’s not ideal given the setup.
Howyoulikethat is the wildcard at a bigger price. A multiple course-and-distance winner, back at his optimum trip, and likely to be staying on when others have cried enough. Not the most consistent, but dangerous if things collapse late.
Verdict
This race is less about raw ability and more about how it unfolds.
If Ocean Manifest gets an uncontested lead, he’s a major danger to all.
If the pace lifts or pressure comes late, Ohailbhic and Ben Lawers look the most solid closers.
At the prices, Ohailbhic makes the most appeal — progressive, well drawn, and still fairly treated.
Ocean Manifest is the one you have to respect tactically, while Howyoulikethat is the value each-way angle based on track form alone.
