The 7.30 at Wolverhampton isn’t a race to overcomplicate, but it is one where tactics will matter more than raw ability.🏇⤵️👇

On paper, it looks competitive. In reality, the shape of the race tells you plenty. There’s a clear lack of early pace, with My Fermoy the most likely to go forward and potentially control things. Around here, especially over this trip, that’s a serious edge. If he gets an uncontested lead, he won’t be easy to peg back.
That immediately puts pressure on a big chunk of the field who prefer to be ridden patiently. Horses like Spanish Voice, High On Hope and Jez Bomb all do their best work late, but Wolverhampton isn’t always kind to hold-up runners—particularly in races where the tempo isn’t guaranteed to collapse.
Spanish Voice is probably the class act. He’s lightly raced, comes from a top yard, and has the assistance of Oisin Murphy. But he’s drawn wide and has shown quirks in how he settles. In a race lacking pace, he could easily find himself with too much to do.
High On Hope is more straightforward and better drawn. He’s been in good form and will be finishing strongly again, but like others, he’s hostage to how the race unfolds.
The more interesting angle lies with Fierce Fortitude. He’s unexposed, comes here off a win, has been gelded since, and now goes handicapping from stall one. That’s a near-perfect setup for this track. If he can sit handy, he has the profile of a horse who could take a step forward at the right time.
Then there’s Jez Bomb, who brings consistency and a solid C&D performance, including a notably quick time figure. He’ll run his race, but whether that’s enough to win depends on how things play out up front.
Way Of Life arrives in top form after back-to-back wins, including here, but stall 12 makes life difficult. He’ll need things to fall perfectly.
In simple terms, this race likely hinges on two questions: does My Fermoy get an easy lead, and is Fierce Fortitude as well handicapped as he looks?
If the answer to the first is yes, he’s a major threat. If the second is also yes, Fierce Fortitude is the one with the most upside in the field.
Everything else may just be playing catch-up.
