1.52 Lingfield – Tight Handicap, Familiar Faces🏇⤵️👇

·

This is a weak Class 6, but not an easy puzzle. These races are usually decided by track position and who gets the run of things, rather than any hidden class edge.
The ratings point firmly where they usually do — the top two dominate.
Kondratiev Wave sits clear on the TimeWise figures and comes here off a win. He’s also the only confirmed front runner, which matters around Lingfield. If he gets a soft lead, he’ll take catching. The issue is consistency. He’s a 9-year-old who doesn’t always find much off the bridle, and this race isn’t lacking in horses that can finish.
That brings in Global Warning, the obvious alternative. Second on ratings and far more reliable in how he runs his race. He’ll likely sit just off the pace and, crucially, he’s one of the few in here who finishes his races properly. In a race where there’s a bit of pressure behind the leader, that counts.
There are a couple of closers worth noting. Fort Augustus is unexposed compared to most of these and shapes like he’ll stay on strongly, but he’s not quite backed up enough by the ratings to make him the main play. Others like Blue Collar Lad will be doing their best work late, but they’re relying on things falling apart in front of them.
In truth, this should come down to whether Kondratiev Wave gets his own way in front. If he does, he could make all. If not, he looks vulnerable late on.
Global Warning is the percentage call. He’s solid, consistent, and suited by how this race is likely to unfold.
Selection: Global Warning
Saver: Kondratiev Wave
Confidence: Medium
