7.30 Chelmsford – Racing Welfare Handicap (5f)🏇⤵️👇

·

This looks a straightforward race on the surface, but the shape adds a layer of intrigue.
The TimeWise Master ratings point clearly to Initial Blue (IRE), who tops the figures and brings the most solid recent form into the race. Historically, that alone is a major positive — Rank 1 horses win these far more often than anything else, and this is not a race where you want to get clever.
The main threat comes from Clover Time, the only confirmed front runner. Drawn in stall 1, he should get an uncontested lead and could control the race. In a 5f sprint at Chelmsford, that is always dangerous. The problem is his tendency to weaken late. He’s been in this position before and not finished the job.
That sets the race up for something to come off the pace, and Initial Blue fits that bill perfectly. He has the strongest finishing profile in the field and arrives in consistent form. If he’s within striking distance turning in, he should be the one finishing best.
Diamond Dreamer is respected, particularly as last year’s winner, but sits only third on the ratings and doesn’t get an ideal pace setup. He looks more of a place player than the answer.
In short, this should play out as a test of whether Clover Time can hang on. The percentages say he won’t.
Selection: Initial Blue (IRE)
Confidence: Medium
