8.00 Southwell – Make The Move To Midnite Handicap (Div 2)🏇⤵️👇

·

This is a weak Class 6 on paper, but the data gives a very clear angle if you stick to it.
The TimeWise ratings point you straight to the top two: Highfield Comrade and Knight Of Magic. Historically, that’s where the winner is most likely to come from, and there’s little in this field to suggest otherwise.
The key to this race is the shape.
Comment Shaper flags a strong pace setup with a high collapse risk. There is only one confirmed front runner in Marcello Si, but crucially there are several prominent racers sitting just behind. That combination often creates a falsely run race early that turns into a test late — exactly the kind that falls apart in the straight.
That immediately puts the spotlight on finishing profiles rather than early position.
Highfield Comrade is solid and consistent, and rightly heads the ratings. However, he is a prominent racer who tends to stay on rather than quicken. In a race where the pace is likely to compress and then collapse, that run style leaves him vulnerable to something coming from off the speed.
That something looks very much like Knight Of Magic.
He is a hold-up horse with a proven strong finish, consistently ridden patiently and finishing his races off. He also has solid course form and arrives with figures that stack up against the favourite. Most importantly, his run style is perfectly suited to how this race is likely to unfold.
Jack Andrea, ranked third, has a similar finishing profile but lacks tactical consistency and is harder to trust in terms of positioning.
The rest of the field either lack the ratings, the finishing strength, or both.
This looks a straightforward case of ratings plus race shape aligning. When that happens, you keep it simple.
Selection: Knight Of Magic (IRE)
Confidence: Strong
