Fine Interview looks the right one in the 5.15 at Doncaster🏇⤵️👇

·

The 5.15 at Doncaster is a proper competitive 6f handicap, but the race shape gives a strong clue as to how it should be run.
Comment Shaper points to a very strong pace with three front runners, solid pressure from the prominent racers and a high collapse risk. In a race like that, I do not want to be siding with a horse who needs an easy lead. I want one that can travel, sit just off the speed and finish.
That brings Fine Interview straight to the front of the queue.
He is ranked number one on HRB TimeWise Master, and that matters. The top-ranked horse is where the strongest win strike rate sits, and in these races the analysis should start there, not with speculative outsiders. Fine Interview is clear on the figures and also has the profile to back it up.
He is a course-and-distance winner, he was third in this race on his reappearance last year, and he ended last season in top form with back-to-back wins, including over this track and trip. He knows Doncaster, handles the setup and comes here with the right historical markers for this race.
Just as importantly, his Comment Shaper profile fits the likely scenario. He is not one of the trailblazers expected to help force the pace. He shapes more like the type who can sit off the heat and come through when the race begins to fall apart late on. In a 20-runner sprint with pressure up front, that is exactly what you want.
The main danger looks to be Territorial Knight. He is ranked number two on HRB, so he is the only serious alternative on the ratings. He is another course-and-distance winner, still lightly raced enough to think there could be a bit more in the locker, and his style should also suit if they go too hard early. He makes plenty of sense as the saver.
Korker is the one some will latch onto at a price because he is a strong late finisher and the likely pace collapse should play to that strength. The issue is that he is only ranked third, has not won for a while and may just need the run. He is not dismissed, but he is not the percentage call.
There are others with bits and pieces in their favour. Woven could be helped by the setup, and Dark Thirty won this race last year and goes well fresh. But both need more things to fall right than Fine Interview does.
The key here is not to overcomplicate it. The race shape says late closers and stalkers should be favoured. The HRB ratings say start with the top two. The proven Doncaster form says Fine Interview has already shown he can do it here.
Put it all together and the answer is straightforward.
Selection: Fine Interview
Main danger: Territorial Knight
Confidence: Medium
