6.42 Limerick – Vision Contracting Handicap Chase🏇⤵️👇

·

This is a small-field handicap that looks far more straightforward than it first appears once you strip it back to the key angles: ratings and race shape.
HRB TimeWise has Mount Frisco clear top rated, and that immediately puts him front and centre given how dominant Rank 1 runners are in this dataset. The gap to the rest is solid rather than marginal, and in a race lacking depth, that matters.
The Comment Shaper then sharpens the picture. Mount Frisco is the only confirmed front runner, and crucially, a strong one. His recent run style is relentless — he goes forward and stays there. In a race where:
there is only one prominent runner (Marelly), and
the overall pace pressure is rated as moderate,
he is very likely to get an uncontested lead.
That is a major edge around Limerick on soft ground. Horses that can dictate here, especially in small fields, are notoriously hard to peg back. The low collapse risk only reinforces that view — this is unlikely to fall apart late.
Looking at the opposition:
Come On The Lads is the Timeform pick and an interesting handicap debutant over fences. He has the profile of a horse who could improve, and his strong finishing style is noted. However, this setup looks against him. In a steadily run race, hold-up types often leave themselves too much to do. He may well finish best, but that doesn’t guarantee he gets there in time.
Spinning Web, the Rank 2 horse, is the only one you’d consider as a saver on ratings alone. But recent form is poor, including a fall last time, and he too is reliant on a stronger pace than he’s likely to get.
Marelly could sit close to the pace but has a clear tendency to weaken late. He looks more likely to trade well in-running than see it out.
The rest — Quest With Speed and Its Not Over Yet — are strong finishers on paper but completely dependent on a pace collapse that the race shape strongly suggests won’t happen.
So everything points in the same direction. The top-rated horse, with the best tactical setup, is also the one most likely to control the race from the front.
Verdict
Mount Frisco should get an easy lead and, in a race lacking serious pressure, is likely to dictate throughout.
