4.30 Clonmel – SIS Supporting Irish Racing Chase🏇⤵️👇

This is a small-field contest but not a complicated one if you stick to what actually wins races: ratings, class and setup.
The HRB TimeWise figures are clear. Dee Capo is ranked 1, and that matters. Historically, that top rank produces the bulk of winners, and there’s a clean gap back to Maxxum and Look To The West. This is not a race to get clever in.
From a form perspective, Dee Capo has been mixing it in much deeper waters. His fourth in a big-field Grade 3 handicap reads well here, and the Cheltenham run is easy enough to forgive. Back into calmer company, he simply brings the strongest piece of form into the race.
The Comment Shaper adds another tick. There’s likely to be a fair pace with two going forward, and that opens the door for something finishing late. Dee Capo is flagged as a strong finisher, which fits perfectly. In contrast, Maxxum is more likely to be on or near the pace and has shown a tendency to weaken late — not ideal given the projected setup.
Maxxum is the obvious danger on ratings alone (Rank 2), and he’s consistent, but this looks more like damage limitation than a winning angle. He may travel well, but whether he sees it out strongly enough is another matter.
Look To The West is interesting. She’s also marked down as a strong finisher and represents a yard that does well here. But she’s still only Rank 3 and needs improvement to trouble the top two. In a race like this, that’s a big ask.
The rest don’t have the numbers or the form to get involved.
This race sets up cleanly: best horse, best rating, and the right run style.
Selection: Dee Capo
Saver: Maxxum
