This is a small-field Class 5 chase where there’s no need to get clever — the numbers and the likely race shape point in the same direction.
The HRB TimeWise ratings are very clear. Redbridge Rambler sits miles clear on 246 and, given the strong historical edge of Rank 1 runners, that immediately makes him the one to beat. Calgary Tiger is the only realistic alternative on ratings, with the rest needing to outperform both the data and their profiles.
The race shape is important but not dramatic. Two front runners (Calgary Tiger and Daany) suggest some early pressure, but the collapse risk is low and the overall finishing strength in the field is poor. This isn’t shaping into a race that falls apart — it’s more about who is positioned well and can sustain their effort.
That plays directly into Redbridge Rambler’s strengths. He’s been running over much longer trips and now drops back to 2 miles. In a weak race for finishers, that drop in distance should help him travel comfortably and finish his race better than most. He’s consistent, proven in stronger company, and tactically versatile enough to sit handy without getting dragged into a battle for the lead.
Calgary Tiger is the obvious danger. He’s a course-and-distance winner and likely to be involved from the front, but both the data and recent runs suggest he does too much early and weakens late. At 11 years old, he’s not getting any stronger in the finish.
Of the rest, My Rockstar has been put forward by Timeform and could improve off a lower mark, but his profile is patchy and he also has a tendency to weaken. The others either lack form, are unreliable, or don’t fit the race setup.
In a race like this, discipline matters. The top-rated runner has the best profile, the right setup, and the least to prove.
Redbridge Rambler is the pick — and it’s a strong one.
