19:42 Carlisle – PricedUp Daily Sports Boosts Handicap (Class 5, Pro-Am Female Jockeys, 0-70), 1m3f39y, Soft

·

Pace & Draw Angles: Forecast pace is even. This course and distance tend to favour those racing prominently, and this setup appears to suit Idyllic and not Whatacracker. The draw bias is against high numbers, which could be a negative for wide-drawn types like Valley of Flowers (11) and Ravenscraig Castle (10).

Strongest Contenders:

IDYLLIC – CD winner two starts back, winning a race that has worked out well. She was found wanting in a better race at Hamilton last time but is ideally drawn and should get a good position close to the pace. Still relatively lightly raced and holds scope in this grade.

FAST FRED – Consistent and in good heart, he produced solid placed efforts on his last three starts. He handles soft ground and is proven over further. Versatile and reliable.

WHATACRACKER – Often runs his race and unlucky last time (denied a clear run). Drawn better today and may be value again if things fall right. Likely to be held up, so luck in running is required.

CHILLHI – Responded well to first-time visor when second at Newmarket. Has form at up to 2m and is well treated at best, but tends to start slowly and could be compromised if he misses the break again.

RAVENSCRAIG CASTLE – Long losing run but ran well last time when staying on late at Hamilton. Needs a strong pace to be seen to best effect.

Interesting Outsiders:

SELWAN – In decent heart for his new stable. Ground and trip are no problem, and he’s better than recent placings suggest.

Significant Trends/Trainer Notes:

Trainer James Owen is in form and has a solid 22% strike rate over this trip (saddles Chillhi and Saxon Land).

Trainer Christopher Kellett has a decent record with single runners on a card (Selwan).

Tim Easterby (Masekela) is another hot trainer, though this horse can pull hard.

Ratings (Out of 10):

Horse Score

IDYLLIC 8 – Suited to track, trip, and going; drop in grade ideal
FAST FRED 8 – Proven, in-form stayer, handles conditions
WHATACRACKER 7 – Consistent, well treated, but needs luck from hold-up ride
CHILLHI 7 – Dangerous if headgear works again, but temperament is a concern
RAVENSCRAIG CASTLE 7 – Out of form long term, but staying power and soft ground suit
SELWAN 6 – Place possibilities if continuing revival
MASEKELA 6 – May go close if settling; mixed profile
ASHINGTON 5 – Has ability but better over further; not firing
SAXON LAND 4 – Unconvincing profile; bit to prove
VALLEY OF FLOWERS 3 – Out of form and likely needs further
HOT TEAM 3 – Regressed this season
RAINPROOF 2 – No compelling case on recent form or stamina grounds

Private Tissue Estimate:

Fast Fred 4/1

Idyllic 5/1

Whatacracker 11/2

Chillhi 6/1

Ravenscraig Castle 7/1

Selwan 10/1

Masekela 10/1

Others 16/1+

Summary: A competitive amateur riders’ handicap with Idyllic returning to a track and grade that suits. Fast Fred is rock-solid, while Whatacracker deserves compensation after an unlucky run. Chillhi is the dark horse if breaking better.

Smart Play (Professional View): Win Bet: Fast Fred – consistent, stays well, track and ground ideal.
Each-Way Saver: Idyllic – CD winner, drawn to attack, could get the run of the race.
