Race summary

This is a Class 4 fillies’ novice over 1m 75y on good ground with 13 runners. It looks a fairly open race, but the strongest form sits with a handful near the top of the market.

Main contenders

Deedaydiva looks the solid one. She won a 7f Sandown maiden last August and that form has worked out well since, with the horses behind her boosting it. She has to carry a penalty, but she looks the type to improve again now stepped up in trip.

Eskimo Pie brings the best established level of form. She has mixed it in better races than most of these and ran a respectable third in a conditions race at Kempton on her return. She sets a fair standard and should go well again.

Botagoz is another major player. She won on debut at Kempton in December and did it with a bit in hand. She is bred to improve and looks likely to stay this longer trip.

Interesting newcomers

Concealed Passion is one of the more interesting debutantes. She is well bred, comes from the Beckett yard, and has plenty of stamina in the family. She could be a serious factor if ready first time.

Shadida also makes appeal on pedigree. She is from the Haggas stable and looks the sort who could be better than market expectations on debut.

Midnight Steppers and Withtearsinmyeyes are not dismissed on breeding, but they may need the run or more experience.

Others

Brighlee has useful placed form from last season and is not without a chance, but she has had several goes and may be vulnerable to less exposed rivals.

Tashi Delek showed some promise when second at Yarmouth last year, though the form does not look especially strong.

Palace Artois has ability in the pedigree and wears first-time blinkers, but she still looks raw.

The remainder, including Echo Valley, Tiny Tiger and Cortado Girl, have shown too little so far and would need a major step forward.

Pace and race shape

The pace forecast is even, so there may not be a strong set-up for hold-up horses. That slightly favours runners who can sit handy, which is another plus for Eskimo Pie.

Overall view

The race looks to revolve around: Deedaydiva, Eskimo Pie and Botagoz

With the most interesting unexposed dangers: Concealed Passion and Shadida
