The 4.00 at Warwick looks a fairly typical Class 5 handicap chase on paper, but the race shape adds a layer of intrigue that shouldn’t be ignored. With two confirmed front runners in Kally Des Bruyeres and Ballywood, and further pressure from prominent racers, this is unlikely to be run at a steady gallop. The Comment Shaper data points towards a strongly run race with a fair chance of late pressure telling.

From an HRB TimeWise perspective, it’s no surprise to see Kally Des Bruyeres sitting top of the rankings. He arrives in form and made all last time, but that scenario looks much harder to replicate here. With competition for the lead, he may not get things his own way, and his tendency to weaken under pressure raises a slight concern.

This brings Forcetoreckonwith firmly into the picture. Ranked second, which historically is the only serious alternative to the top-rated, she brings consistency and a strong finishing profile. Her recent win has already been franked, and crucially, her run style suggests she’ll be well positioned to capitalise if the pace collapses late on.

Zoeman is harder to weigh up. On his best form he’s a big player, and the removal of headgear could spark a revival, but his latest run leaves questions to answer.

Overall, this looks like a race where tactics could trump raw ratings, and that tilts the balance slightly away from the favourite and towards a closer.
