The 3.45 at Musselburgh looks a race where the pace map should have a major say, and that points me towards Harry The Rogue.

Comment Shaper has this down as a very strong shape with three front runners, two more prominent racers and a high collapse risk. In plain terms, there should be no hiding place for those taking each other on early. In a race like that, the ideal horse is often one that can sit just off the speed, travel kindly and finish off.

That is exactly the case for Harry The Rogue. His Comment Shaper profile is one of the most solid in the field: tracked leaders, high confidence, very consistent, and a strong late finisher. His recent style line of TC → TC → TC → TC tells you he is reliable tactically, which is often half the battle in these apprentice handicaps.

On HRB TimeWise Master, he is Rank 2, and that matters. Historically, the top two ranks provide the bulk of winners, so the race should be built around them. Dwindling Funds, the Rank 1 horse, is an obvious danger and fully respected after his good recent Musselburgh second, but Harry looks the cleaner fit for how this contest may unfold.

Timeform also liked his latest Newcastle second on his first run for Stephen Hanlon, noting he shaped well and should go well again from a handy draw. That stable switch could yet bring a bit more out of him.

Everything points to Harry The Rogue getting the right run in the race and being the one most likely to capitalise late.

Verdict: Harry The Rogue (IRE)
Confidence: Medium
