4.15 Lingfield Blog
The 4.15 Lingfield looks a modest but competitive 7f handicap, and the starting point has to be Gladiadora. She is clear top on the HRB TimeWise Master ratings, and that matters. Rank 1 is historically the strongest position to be in, and she is not just top-rated by a small margin — she has a solid advantage over the field.
The race shape also suits her. Comment Shaper finds no obvious front-runner, with only moderate early pressure expected. That should favour horses who can sit close enough without needing a collapse up front. Gladiadora fits that profile well. She can track the pace, travel handily and use her current form to good effect.
Since joining Charlie Clover, she has improved notably. Wins at Chelmsford and Southwell were backed up by a very good second at Nottingham last time, where she was only narrowly denied. Dropping back into this sort of grade, she looks the most reliable option.
The main danger is Twirler, who is HRB Rank 2 and shaped better than the result over course and distance last time. She is only 1 lb above her Kempton winning mark and could easily outrun her price. The concern is that she may be ridden too patiently in a race that does not look certain to favour closers.
Francisco and Vitalline are both strong late finishers, while Timeform also gives Dayman a pace-related mention. The problem is that the projected race shape does not scream strong closer. They need more to go right than Gladiadora does.
Equipment-wise, Vitalline has the visor back on, Cooramook keeps blinkers, and Bint Havana Gold wears cheekpieces, but none of those angles are enough to shift the main view.
The sensible call is straightforward: Gladiadora is the one to beat, with Twirler the saver.
