7.15 Naas – Woodlands Stakes
This Listed sprint looks primed for a burn-up, and that is the starting point for any serious assessment. Comment Shaper points to strong early pressure with multiple front-runners engaged, producing a very strong pace scenario and high collapse risk. In simple terms, they are likely to go too hard early.
The market will naturally gravitate towards Bucanero Fuerte, a proven Naas performer who should improve for better ground after his heavy-ground reappearance. However, he is a habitual front-runner and faces at least two other pace angles. In a race lacking tactical restraint, that is a red flag rather than a positive.
HRB TimeWise has Mission Central ranked 1, and that cannot be ignored. He is a classy three-year-old with strong juvenile form and represents a yard that excels at this venue. That said, he returns from a break and must prove he can cope with a ferocious 5f against hardened older sprinters. At the likely price, he makes more appeal as a saver than a confident win play.
The race shape instead points firmly towards a closer, and King Cuan (Rank 2) fits the bill. He is consistently strong at the finish, and both Timeform and Comment Shaper highlight his suitability for a strongly-run race. His latest run at Cork suggested he would come on for the outing, and with race fitness now on his side, he looks poised to capitalise if the leaders overcook things.
Fahrenheit Seven is another to note, arriving in form and also finishing strongly, but his lower HRB rank tempers confidence for win purposes.
This is ultimately a pace-driven selection. If the race unfolds as expected, King Cuan is the one most likely to be finishing over the top.
