3.58 Redcar – Beerwah the Percentage Play
This 5f handicap has all the hallmarks of a proper Redcar burn-up. The Comment Shaper flags a Very Strong Shape, with two confirmed front runners and multiple prominent racers ensuring a strong early gallop. That immediately shifts the focus away from pace setters and towards those capable of finishing off strongly.
From a ratings perspective, it’s hard to ignore the HRB TimeWise Master top two, which historically dominate races like this. Beerwah (Rank 1) narrowly tops the figures ahead of Miss Rainbow (Rank 2), with a clear gap back to the rest. That alone puts the spotlight firmly on those two.
However, when you layer in the race shape, Beerwah begins to pull clear. His recent Doncaster second was full of promise, staying on strongly over this trip on similar ground. The Comment Shaper reinforces that view, marking him down as a reliable strong finisher who often does his best work late. In a race where the pace looks set to collapse to some degree, that is a major asset.
Miss Rainbow, for all her consistency, looks tactically vulnerable. She is a habitual front runner and will almost certainly be involved in the early speed battle. With the pressure likely to be sustained, she may struggle to see it out as strongly as Beerwah.
Doralee, the Rank 3, is solid but exposed. She keeps hitting the frame without getting her head in front and may again find one too good late on.
Everything points back to Beerwah. He’s well treated, arrives in form, and crucially, is perfectly suited to how this race should unfold.
Selection: Beerwah
